Hello My name is Cheryl. I was Dx on Thanksgiving day (for the U.S.)
in 2000. I started Hydrea and achieved a hematological response in
Mar.2001. Started very low dose interferon in Sep.01. Achieved a
major cytogentic response in Jan.02, a CCR in Jun 02 and just
recently a MR. I am curious to find out how many people there are
out there on interferon. I am lucky so far, no side effects. I have
had a good amount of energy most of the time. It seems that everyone
has tried Interferon but I do not seem to find information on how
long anyone has managed to stay on it.
I have only recently joined this group and I have enjoyed reviewing
all of the messages and files. From what I've read you all sound
like a good group of people and the information you are sharing is so
important.
I can tell you that I am an American living in Canada. Most of my
family is still in the States. The geography makes it a bit
difficult sometimes but we can mostly work it out. I was surprised
to see that HLA testing is not covered by any healthcare in the
U.S.? Does anyone have any experieince with this?
To Zavie: Are you only tracking zero PH for Gleevac? I was in
Frankfurt in April on a business trip. So, I am excited to hear
about the new PCR test you mentioned. Have a good safe trip.
To Richard R: The group is very fortunate to have you. Thank you for
your guidance. Your information has helped to crystalize the
information I have studied on the blood system and CML.
Looking forward to participating with this group.
Best Regards,
Cheryl
