I would speak with the Special Coordinator and make them aware of the situations. Additionally, arrive early and speak with the flight crew as well. They should allow you to board the plane first to prepare the seats (wiping down the arm rests and trays), covering the seat (with a sheet or http://www.planesheets.com/buy_disposable_planesheets) and be sure to keep your medication with you, do not store it in the overhead bins. I've not seen it with American, but sometimes they will make an announcement asking that anyone that brought snacks on the plane containing nuts refrain from consuming them during the flight. I also made a button that clearly states that my child is not to be fed due to deadly food allergies because on more than one occassion, I've fallen asleep and a nearby passenger
has offer my child (PN/TN/D/S/E) something trying to be nice. Even at 2 years old she would say that she could not take it because she had allergies, but better safe than sorry.
Best of luck to you. I'd be interested to hear about your experience. I hope you and your family have a wonderful trip!!
