Bah... I hate exercise! I hate the time it takes, I hate having to plan around
it, I hate putting on my walking shows when I could just wear my flip-flops. I
hate sweating! I hate sore muscles. But I really love the way I feel after the
exercising is done. (once the muscles stop screaming at me) and I really like
the way I feel knowing that I did something for myself.
I fell off the wagon this winter... I got into sewing, quilting, embroidery and
tatting.. all very physically stimulating exercises.... NOT! When I went out a
couple weeks ago to start working in the yard I surprised myself and found out
just how out of shape I am in again. I just had my ~mumbles under breath~ 49th
birthday and I figure I have another 30 years left in this body if I take good
care of it... so I started lifting weights, stretching and doing floor exercises
again this week. My son, who did a lot of research into weight lifting for
strength training and weight-loss, says if I only do squats (for weight lifting)
every other day I'll get into shape... OMG!! Squats suck... especially on the
2nd day. Day 1 I did 10 without too much trouble. the next time I did 3... and
had to force 2 more out of myself for a total of 5. I'm so not looking forward
to tomorrow... which will be the 3rd day of squats. But my goal is to do 25 of
them in 1 set along with my other exercises/weight-lifting. (I'm not lifting
weights for big muscles, just to get in shape and be able to do things
physically). Right now I'm exercising every other day... Once I can walk and
sit down/stand up without moaning and groaning on my off days, I'll start a
different muscle group so I have a daily routine set up... at least that's the
goal right now.
So D'Ann.... I drop Ben off at school at 7:45-7:50. I can be at your house 3
minutes later. We can at least get started and into a routine before the kids
are out of school for the summer and you have a whole gang again. You'll have to
go easy on me the first week... but if you want we can start up again, at least
until summer break.
If anyone else wants to join us (assuming D'Ann does), we walk from D'Ann's
house to Wesselman's park, around the park to the stadium and back to D'Ann's.
When we are doing well, it takes us just about 55-57 minutes to make a round
trip. It really helps to have a buddy to be accountable too and having someone
depend on you to show up.
Let me know D'Ann...
