Re: (unknown)

Hey Patty, I just got back from North Carolina visiting my son and his family in Jacksonville. I think your situation is pretty unique here on this group since none of us have gotten pregnant post surgery. I was 42 and pregnant pre-surgery, weighing in at 279 at delivery. I was miserable. I can’t imagine being pregnant now post surgery at this age… it’s just hard on your body no matter what age you are. Post gastric bypass it’s got to be a major ordeal. My daughter in law is 22 years old and 6 months pregnant and has just now stopped throwing up. So many different foods made her sick she couldn’t keep anything done. She has 2 other kids, ages 3 and almost 2 and all she wants to do is sleep. She has no energy. And she has never been fat. But just being pregnant is hard on her young body so post surgical and being 42 it has got to be hard on you.

I’m over a year out of surgery and can’t eat beef…  no matter how it’s cooked. Steak or ground beef… I can’t eat it. My family now eats ground turkey in anything we used to have ground beef in.  Some days I can eat pretty much anything other then beef, but other days no matter what I eat it feels like it just sits there or gets stuck or just makes me feel like crap. I have accepted this as my life from now on out. Some days I can eat pasta, other days I can’t touch it. Some days’ sweets are good… other days –shudders- I don’t dump anymore like I used too and can tolerate more sugary stuff, but I try to avoid it. I don’t eat bread or sandwiches…  some days I probably could, but I figure why get started back on bread when I really don’t need it. There are some mornings, like D’Ann said… I just NEED toast. So I do break down then, but 99% of the time I just don’t.

This surgery affects everyone differently. I have a friend who can eat anything and pretty much lives on Code Red drinks. Nothing bothers her and she has never gotten sick from anything… but she still has lost over 100 pounds. Others I have heard can’t eat anything and are sick all the time. I think it’s just the person. You aren’t going to find your normal until after the baby is born and your hormones and things get to their normal.

You might look into the forums at www.obesityhelp.com   There are people there from all over the US that have had this surgery and the other WLS’s and there just might be someone there that is dealing with the exact same issues that you are going through right now.

Good luck with the baby and I hope everything goes ok for you.

Judy
