I'm glad you like that. I will go through my clothes in the next couple of days. How many would be looking for size 18 or 20? or 3X, I'm still wearing some of the 18s but hope to be down to the 16s soon. I tend to hold on the larger shirts longer. T-shirts esp.
I think if we do this we should make sure to offer back the clothes to the group and not take them to the consignment shop. Not that I will be spying on people but just a good idea to remember that we are doing this to help each other and support each other in our weightloss journey.
all in favor, say "aye"

It sounds like a good idea about offering the clothes thatone has shrunk out of on this site, and not the other siteslike freecycle and cheapcycle. That's just my opinion.Brenda----- Original Message ----

Subject: Re: [GastricBypassVanderburghIN] Clothes and exercise
Well, some clothes I wear baggy! But mostly I go to the Salvation Army on Wednesday when it is family day and all the clothes are half off. So I pick up a pair of pants for $1 or $2 and if I wear them for one month, that's good for me. Also, St. Marys Bariatic does have a "clothes closet" that you can get clothes from. They have a few things and I've gotten a couple of really nice things from there. Not a big assortment though. I did have a few old clothes that I outgrew that I can wear but I've shrank out of them already.Maybe this is something that we can start here. If people have clothes they want to pass on, we can ask if someone one this group could use them. I don't mind sharing. Also, if you are looking for something and I know it, I've been known to pick it up at the bargain places I go to. I've been taking most of my clothes to a consignment shop but I would love to share with others, knowing they are being put to good use!As far as exercise, I"ve been going to the gym and working out on the machines. I would like to do more research on this "under the arm" flab myself, and find the best thing for it. I know some people when they've lost everything have surgery to help that. I'm want to avoid that!! I'm going to ask them this week at the Y and see what they say is the best thing. I've thought about getting some small handweights to use at home too. Anyone else know?I hope I have helped, I had some of these worries too, but I figured out that that is minor stuff compared to the way I feel now after losing 70 pounds!! I'm not a fashion dresser, but who cares, I can walk the zoo without getting winded. That's what is important!let me know if that helps,I think we could post what sizes we have that others can have and see how that goes. What do you think?D'Ann
Judy <jdpeters@insightbb. com> wrote:D'Ann.... I was just wondering what you are doing for clothes as you
lose weight. I think this is one of my biggest worries about having
the surgery.. losing weight so fast and not having the clothes to
wear. In the past I have gotten clothes from Freecycle and
Cheapcycle, but you have to be paying close attention and hope you are
the first to respond to get most of the clothes. I do have some
clothes that were too small when I bought them and I never returned
them, but most of my "skinny" clothes (meaning clothes that I've
outgrown) have been ruined when our basement flooded, so I don't have
a lot to fall back on. I'm a horrible bargain shopper and can never
find the great deals at Goodwill or the Thrift Stores like my
daughter-in- law can, so I can see this becoming expensive.
Another big worry is exercising. What kind of exercises help the most
with the loose skin. I'm really worried about the fat under my arms. I
can see exercises that help with legs, and abs and such, but nothing
that really helps with the flab under the arms. I've started doing
stretches and some weight lifting... and we try to walk the dogs as
much as the rain will allow, but it's not the kind of walking that
makes you break a sweat.
Any information is much appreciated. .. I like being for-warned so I
can prepare.
