It has been awhile since we have posted anything, so I just thought that I would send out an update on Gabe. He is doing very well. We have transferred back up to Clarian North Med Center/Riley Hospital North and have been going up there for 2 weeks now. We were very dissatisfied with the Downtown Riley Hospital. So, I called to see if we could go back and they said yes. We are very thankful for that and Gabe likes going up there so much better than he did downtown. They are actually interviewing for 2 physician positions at the North location but the nurses are all the same as before and we work very well with them, they are very good at what they do. Not to mention, they are all close to Gabe and love him a lot up there.
He had an MRI and CT on April 7th and James actually took him to those tests and his chemo that day as I was unable to...but anyways, James told me that the tests showed that the tumor on his brain had shrunk significantly from what it was like in January. Apparently the doctor feels that this is the result of the radiation and not so much from the chemo (not sure exactly why). However, it is still very good news. The tumor on his face from what they could see had not grown or shrunk, at least by comparing the new tests w/ the ones done in January. However, we know for a fact that it had grown, but has also shrunk back down. So, what they saw on the most recent tests are the results of the chemo working and that it has shrunk down again and is just the same size again as it was previously. I hope that makes sense to you, because I know what I'm trying to say, just not able to concentrate fully right now as it is very noisy in the house right now (LOL). They also saw a bone abnormality on his spine, which we already knew about from the tests in January. We are going to continue w/ the current chemo regimen since it is working well. When we see that it has stopped working, we will change his treatment to different drugs.
He has been so full of life and energy lately that he has actually been a little monster (everyday). It is a good thing I know, but gets aggravating at times too when you really aren't in the mood to deal with it. But he is doing well and has gotten to play outside a lot lately as we have had great weather!!! Sounds like we are in for some rainy days for the next week or so and that isn't fun when they would much rather be outside.
His next treatment is scheduled for May 12th. His birthday is coming up very soon as well (May 24) and we are very excited about that!!!
Thank you everyone for your continued prayers, thoughts and support. We grately appreciate each of you.
Sincerely,
Brandy
