Some Groups Not Receiving Email Messages
We want to acknowledge the reports that not all groups are receiving
email. Some of these groups are seeing the posts on their group archive
on the Web, but not receiving them via email. This problem has been
difficult to diagnose, since it is affecting some groups but not others.
Our engineers have been investigating the root cause since we became
aware of the problem last night. We will continue to work on this and
will keep you updated via the blog. In the meantime, we appreciate your
patience and apologize for the inconvenience.

Absolutely my pleasure. Y’all are still on my “prayer
list” for Beverly’s
continuing recovery.

Hi Sherry;
I agree Sherry, the 'I would ask him' was a typo
because I copied and pasted that from something else I wrote to some members. I
was referring to a guy on the AA History Site that has taken it on himself to
be a spokesman for the AAWS spin club. Wayne has already addressed this
some years ago and I respect his wishes to just serve his local AA.
Dennis, I can tell you that Wayne P. has denied any
involvement in the use of his name (misspelled at that) on the form referenced
here, and has done so directly to several here (though not necessary to those
of us who know him) and especially to our German friend. For those of us who
knew Wayne as a dedicated servant of A.A. long before his tenure in NY, as a
solid member of the Arkansas Service Structure, as a good and honest business
man in the State of Arkansas, and even more importantly, as a personal
acquaintance and friend—his denial was not necessary.
If you are suggesting that the folks in NY might be asked
what THEY have done to correct the matter, and you are suggesting that our
Delegates might be asked to make such inquiries of them, then I would agree, it
is a matter long over-due being tended to; but to further aggravate a good man
whose name was misused and reputation besmirched, NO! Hell NO!

Well here’s some food for thought. I have been
communicating and doing a little research with some AA friends when I got
reminded of an old issue that has been mentioned here many times. Wgne Parks
appearing on the Mexico state documents as the author of the Big Book.
Without even pointing figures as to how it appeared
there, which was used for a criminal case in Mexico, I would ask him if AAWS
has taken any steps to correct this obvious error, since it has been over a
decade that this was known. Does anyone know if this has ever been corrected?
Would be a good thing to ask our Delegates.

I doubt if the supposed litigation cost is correct. On their tax forms in 2005 alone they claim legal fees of $63,373. Does this include travel fees listed or is it separate accounting under ‘travel fees.’ Also ‘Contracted Services’ is $305,370 and how much of that is contracted legal services?
The idea of a typo that was used to raid the offices of Seccion Mexico and sentence a man to a year in jail and giving him a criminal record and the foundation of the lawsuits itself because in Mexico the death of the original claimed author carries a far reduced time on the copyrights to not be public domain is something that is quite serious.
Also as it being an internal problem in which they had noting to do with is contradicted by this letter http://gsowatch.aamo.info/mex/index.htm#(3) (letter 3) from George D. reminding Central Mexicana of their contractual responsibilities to take legal action. He even suggests a few actions to take.
About the AAWS claim that they were just following the group conscience of the fellowship below is a letter I wrote to Elaine some years ago that was never answered.
Letter--------- Elaine McDowell, Ph.D.
Re: Conference action on protecting copyrights.
Dear Elaine:
I have a couple questions regarding your statement to the 2002 Conference regarding the General Service Board protecting AA copyrights and trademarks. The first question is you stated that protection of copyrights is the “legal obligation” of the board, so could you please inform me as to what legalities you were referring to? Is there a law that states one must protect copyrights either within or without of AA? If it is contractual with authors for royalty then is the law, whatever it is, still binding after royalties have expired?
The second question is related to the first. Could you please inform me what Conference action directed the GSB to protect copyrights and trademarks, as you started in your Conference report?
The third question arises from a statement you made previous to the above in mentioning literature and the group conscience. In Germany where, as you are aware, a copyright litigation is going on and the German General Service Conference voted and passed that the Traditions and Concepts were not just suggestions but binding to the German General Service Board, AAeV. The AAeV agreed except the President of AAeV stated he would not apply it to the current litigations although they are opposed to the spirit of the Fifth Warranty of Concept Twelve. So my question is one of policy. If our “one ultimate authority” in AA is a “loving God as He expresses Himself in our group conscience” and that group conscience speaks from the groups through the Conference in a foreign country and the service structure of that country ignores or opposes the voice of the groups does the U.S./Canada General Service Board support the General Service Board of that country or does it support the group conscience of the fellowship of said country if opposing policy exist? Would the General Service Board support actions by foreign GSO’s if they were aware the groups opposed such actions? And finally since AAWS is actively involved with the litigation’s in Germany they cannot take the position that it is an internal problem, so specifically are they going to support the litigation’s that are opposed to the Fifth Warranty and thus oppose the group conscience of the German groups?
I know your time is valuable and I would greatly appreciate if you could address these questions. They will be passed on to others who are also interested in these questions.
Thank you for your time and service to AA,
In Fellowship,
Dennis M. Grateful member of Back to Basics Group Van Nuys, California ------------ Peace,
I spoke to Tom Jasper on the phone, I don't know six months ago, about Wayne being on the legal papers in the German Case. He assured me that it was a type-o. In an e mail when I suggested he and his office had not been thoroughly honest with me on a number of matters. In his reply he wanted specifics about my perception of their deception.
How can anyone respond to allegations that are vague and non-specific? How do you know that information that differs from that which you received from GSO is the correct information?
In any case, while none of us is perfect, I would be more than happy to address any questions you have about inaccurate, mistaken or untruthful information that you believe you received from this office, and actually invite such questions.
On 1/22/07 I responded. One of the four items I listed was how this type-o appeared in Germany and Mexico. One where he said New York had NOTHING to do with what happened in Germany. That they were doing what they wanted under autonomy. ( I sent him Elaine McDowel's report stating NY spent $277,000 on that litigation ) More than happy? He has yet to send his response.
Dennis, I can tell you that Wayne P. has denied any involvement in the use of his name (misspelled at that) on the form referenced here, and has done so directly to several here (though not necessary to those of us who know him) and especially to our German friend. What a dilemma for AAWS! Damned for the liars they are
if they DON’T correct this error, and damned for the liars they are if
they DO correct the error. The situation as I see it: If “Wgne”
(mis-spelling of “Wayne”?)
Parks has been declared the author of Alcoholics Anonymous, the obviously, Bill
Wilson CAN’T be given credit as the “author”, and the U.S. copyrights
are null and void in any case…BUT they still “win” the
Mexican suit. If “Wgne Parks” is withdrawn as the author of
Alcoholics Anonymous, then intentional fraud is most obvious in the Mexican
suit, which opens them up to a suit for false imprisonment (amongst many other
charges such as perjury).
Perhaps this should be pressed with the AAWS government
bodies?

Beverly entered the hospital on Jan. 2nd for scheduled heart valve replacement, surgery was successfully performed on Jan 5th, she developed a serious infection, then reoccurring lung and respiratory problems which resulted in further weakening her and interfering with her recovery and normal rehab due to weakened state---- Beverly is now breathing without assistance much of the time, though still on Bi-Pap at night, she is eating with a good appetite and though a bit slow in processing and response, is just as quick with her wit and humor as always and determined to get up (requires considerable assistance yet in sitting up or getting onto her feet from bed) and be involved in her rehab process. According to Elaine McDowell's report to the 2004 GSC: "Legal fees and related expenses over the seven-year period, 1998- 2004, totaled $227,707."
Now that is a lot of nothing. I have calculated it and you can buy an infinite amount of nothing for $227,707. Perhaps ol' Jasper can tell us where they keep all that nothing. And if you could tell him I have more than I need and would be glad to sell AAWS 3-400,000 dollars worth. They have my address, (apparently).
Tell them mine is personally made by Wgne Parks and is of extremely high quality. Guaranteed, or double nothing back.

For those of us who knew Wayne as a dedicated servant of A.A. long before his tenure in NY, as a solid member of the Arkansas Service Structure, as a good and honest business man in the State of Arkansas, and even more importantly, as a personal acquaintance and friend—his denial was not necessary.
If you are suggesting that the folks in NY might be asked what THEY have done to correct the matter, and you are suggesting that our Delegates might be asked to make such inquiries of them, then I would agree, it is a matter long over-due being tended to; but to further aggravate a good man whose name was misused and reputation besmirched, NO! Hell NO!

Well here’s some food for thought. I have been communicating and doing a little research with some AA friends when I got reminded of an old issue that has been mentioned here many times. Wgne Parks appearing on the Mexico state documents as the author of the Big Book.
Without even pointing figures as to how it appeared there, which was used for a criminal case in Mexico, I would ask him if AAWS has taken any steps to correct this obvious error, since it has been over a decade that this was known. Does anyone know if this has ever been corrected? Would be a good thing to ask our Delegates.

I have been checking
lately and no one seems to be writing, is there a
problem?
A mother consoled her little boy whose cat
had died. "Tabby is in heaven with God now," she said. The little
boy, quick as a wink asked, "What would God want with a dead cat?"

of Nell Wing
Dear Friends:
It is with great sadness that we share the news
that Nell Wing died on Wednesday, February 14,
2007 at 7:00 p.m. after a lengthy illness. Nell
was 89 years old.
As most of you know, Nell was Bill W.'s secretary
and assistant for 17 years and a close friend
and long-time companion to Lois W. She worked
at the General Service Office of A.A. from the
beginning of 1947 until her retirement at the
close of 1982, starting as a receptionist and
later becoming secretary of A.A. World Services,
Inc. Additionally, she served as G.S.O.'s first
archivist for the last ten of her years at the
office. The Archives opened in 1975.
We would like to take a moment to celebrate
Nell's life and share the following:
From Markings, November/December 1983, when
Nell announced her retirement in print:
"…I hope to stay nearby; and never lessen
interest in this fellowship, nor loosen the
close bonds of friendship with my A.A. and
Al-Anon friends. I'm forever grateful for this
marvelous experience that began for me on
March 3, 1947, at 415 Lexington
Ave., New York
City, in 3 small rooms of the CentralTerminal Building. I have enjoyed
and treasured every
moment of it. I won't say `goodbye:' just want
to extend my love and thanks to each one of
you dear friends."
Please join all of us at the General Service
Office in extending our heartfelt condolences
to Nell's family.
thanks so much for Whoever is in charge. I would surely miss all the help I get from this place. Love to all, Paul.
