Hello everyone, I just found the group today and read through the
posts, very supportive and helpful to me. I had, for the past 2
years, a t count near 20 and viral load over 700,000. I am resistant
across the board to Haart. I have been very lucky in that all I have
had is alot of thrush (I am resistant to Diflucan now), and have to
keep having warts removed (frozen). But no colds or anything at all.
I decided it was time to take the plunge after months of thinking and
anxiety. I had my initial appointment today, and injected the first
time there. It surprised me the mental part was worse than the
injection, the worry, needle fear, and sadness over having to now do
this too, as well as restart 30 pills a day (was off for 4 months). I
think the challange of this will be the timing and making sure it is
12 hours apart and done correctly every time.
I have gone through alot of different moods today. Severe anxiety of
this life changing procedure first, then the first injection anxiety
and learning it all in 2hours, then I got home and felt wonderful,
but the next shot came at 10pm and I got VERY agitated that, wow,
this is going to happen 2 times a day, all the prep and sticking
myself. I was really mean to my roomie and apologized, he understood.
I don't yet know about any reactions on the injection site, it seems
to be fine for now but I know they can take a while. On my second
shot, I think I might have gone into skin layers, because a bump
immediately came with a yellowish color, did I miss the fat layer?
This wasn't there at the first shot at the doctor's office. I have
heard that the 45 degree angle is not as good as a 90. It went away
with the circling rubbing I did, which I read much about. They also
said if it gets bad getting a small vibrator and using it 10 minutes
after the shot has been of benifit. Also, unlike the earlier
injection, had to stick twice. I know it's early and am learning.
There was also a very small blood spot at both, unlike the first
injection of earlier today. Is this normal?
I would like to hear more if you could about your first few weeks and
does the mental state become easier as you do this more, as well as
technique? Also, anyone had counts near me that was resistant to my
degree with low t-cells and how have your tests been?
Thanks to the founder of this group for developing it. I will
continue to post my experiences as time movies on.
Robert
