Miscellaneous: Alcohol on Cord Stump   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #42 of 312 |
Thanks to Michele for this Frugal Baby Tip!

Interesting study was done at hospitals in Canada. Conclusion: if you
leave the umbilical cord stump alone, no alcohol, it falls off faster.
When you use alcohol on it, the alcohol kills the 'good' bacteria
whose job it is to dry up the stump.

I used alcohol on my son's stump and no alcohol on Keely's. I can't
remember when her's fell off, I do remember my pregnant neice was
changing her diaper at the time and it grossed her out. Anyway,
alcohol or no alcohol, doesn't matter.
