OCALI has launched two new Autism Internet Modules:


Pivotal Response Training (PRT)

Pivotal Response Training (PRT) is a research-based model with the ultimate goal
"to provide individuals with autism with the social and educational proficiency
to participate in enriched and meaningful lives in inclusive settings" (Koegel,
Koegel, Harrower, & Carter, 1999). This module describes the framework, how it
can be implemented, teaching strategies across age levels, and the evidence base
for PRT.

Preparing and Supporting Individuals with ASD to Obtain and Sustain Employment

Research has shown poor employment outcomes for individuals with autism.  This
module explains strategies to support persons with autism in the transition
process from school to employment so they have an opportunity for a better
outcome.

These are available for free at www.ocali.org.  Please pass along this
information to all interested parties.

Hello all -

Language Learning Associates will be offering its second annual Social
Communication Camp (SCC) for middle school and high school age students.  The
camp will be run at Medina High School.  Camp will begin the week of June 21st
and run throughout the summer.  SCC will run on T-W-Th mornings (9am until noon)
and will focus on improving overall communication skills in a camp format. 
Staff will consist of SLPs, OTS, PTs, certified educators, students in training
and high school students (to serve as peer models).  The SCC will be offered the
following weeks - June 22nd, June 29th, July 6th, July 13th off, July 20th, July
27th, and Aug 3rd.  Please feel free to sign up for one or all weeks as the
routine will be the same but the theme will change each week.

Last year, we had 15 campers each week and we are expecting more this summer.

In addition, LLA will be offering social communication groups at all 3 locations
this summer - Fairlawn - Medina - Hudson.  For more information check out the
