Scientific research has found that autopsies on the brains of Alzheimer's victims consistently find large amounts of Aluminium in the brain.  Research has also found that when Fluoride is added to municipal water supplies it bonds with Aluminium (ALUM or Aluminium Sulphate which is used to clarify water by the water treatment plants). This bonding allows the Aluminium/Fluoride to easily cross the blood brain barrier and is suspected as being a primary cause of accumulation of Beta-Amyloids (which is a hallmark of Alzheimer's)  in the brain. Varner et.el concluded: " Striking parallels were seen between aluminum-induced alterations in cerebrovasculature and those associated with Alzheimer’s disease and other forms of dementia where microvascular abnormalities display a regional and laminar specificity in accordance with neuronal degeneration patterns, suggesting that the alterations in the cerebrovasculature may be a primary event in neurodegenerative disease. Accumulation of B-amyloid has been found in the cerebrovasculature and spinal cord vasculature of elderly persons and may be a consequence of the development of blood vessel abnormalities. Vascular tissues produce B-amyloid and the vascular deposition of B-amyloid may result from alterations in the basement membrane of blood vessels that frequently occurs with ageing. Although it is uncertain whether B-amyloid is a causative factor in neurodegeneration or a secondary consequence of injury, aluminum appears to have the capacity to influence the distribution and properties of B-amyloid"

America's Medicare and Medic-aid systems are being bankrupted by the Alzheimers epidemic, http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_m0EIN/is_2001_April_3/ai_72688070/. One does not have to be a rocket scientist to make the association between the most fluoridated country in the world and the high incidence of Alzheimer's in USA. Deliberately fluoridating water supplies in light of the volumes of evidence of harm, amounts to little more than a covert form of genocide which is in direct conflict with the ICCPR and the principles of the UN, especially when the overwhelming evidence of harm has been supplied to the relevant QLD politicians. It is imperative that this practice be stopped in Australia to avoid an Australian epidemic of Alzheimer's. Did you know that mass medication is not permitted in Australia without a referendum according to the Australian Constitution, yet here in QLD we have been forced medicated without consent via referendum. In a landmark decision by the European Court of Justice (ECJ) in the case of "Warenvertriebs and Orthica, the court found that·"Fluoridated water, as a 'near-water drink containing added minerals' is a functional food with recognizable pharmaceutical properties. As such, it must be regulated as a medicinal product". This also has major implications to Australia's export food trade to the EU because foodstuffs like fresh fruit etc cannot be washed in fluoridated water nor can food grown with fluoridated water be exported to the EU. It appears livestock destined to the EU must never drink fluoridated water or the carcasses washed with same. Interestingly the QLD government insists it is NOT a medicine. At the very least, where was the QLD peoples CHOICE in fluoridation.

Given the above, why is QLD deliberately adding fluoride to the water supplies, when all the recent evidence of harm has led to numerous other countries repealing fluoridation legislation. Should we not be applying the "precautionary principal" rather than subjecting millions of Australian citizens to possible neurological damage (Alzheimer's disease) and a huge increase in associated costs to Medicare as well as Social security payments (Alzheimers takes 2 people out of the workforce, the sufferer and the carer, and adds these to the social security burden).  I suffer Early Onset Alzheimers (diagnosed at age 47)and just coincidently my mum took fluoride tablets whilst pregnant with me, but not whilst pregnant with my 5 brothers and sister. None of my older or younger siblings have this disease and there is no family history prior to me. I also lived in Townsville for many years which has been fluoridated for approx 30 years whereas none of my siblings have ever lived in fluoridated towns.

 I have viewed over 600 research papers and other credible articles about the adverse health effects associated with fluoride, and an Australian death certificate where the cause of death was fluoride toxicity/poisoning, but given the tone of your answer to Werner Schmidlin, I seriously doubt Choice would be interested in credible facts such as these. Personally I have made a CHOICE not to read your magazine ever again, after such a biased article that obviously demonstrates a major lack of credible research.
