World Water Day - indirect support for fluoridation   Message List
Reply | Forward Message #7333 of 7496 |
Tomorrow is world water day. Here in Los Angeles there will be a 3 mile march
about water issues. There will be marches all over the country. One of the
sponsors of the event is Take Back the Tap. They want people to drink tap water
and stop buying bottled water. They don't like seeing bottled water at their
events.

Groups like Take Back the Tap are saying that tap water is just as safe as
bottled water. They never mention that tap water usually has chlorine and
fluoride added, and bottled water typically does not have these chemicals.
These potentially dangerous chemicals are one of the reasons people buy bottled
water. Plus, bottled water is more pure because it lacks these chemicals.
This whole campaign composed of environmental groups dumping on bottled water
never mentions this. They have a point that bottled water costs more and makes
plastic waste. But their discussions of water chemical safety and water
filtration methods are often wrong. They would prefer that nobody talk about
the chlorine and fluoride in tap water.

I bet the people marching tomorrow don't realize that the groups involved in
World Water day support fluoridation by encouraging tap water use over bottled
water. World Water day is generally a good thing, except for this.
