This list serves as the communication tool for the Legislation committee of FirstRight, a national grassroots organization committed to making breastfeeding the cultural norm. FirstRight aspires to ensure freedom from discrimination for breastfeeding mothers and their children. FirstRight works collaboratively with other organizations to protect, promote and support breastfeeding as the cultural norm.

To address FirstRight’s goals of finding and supporting breastfeeding mothers who have faced discrimination, educating corporations and the public about breastfeeding rights, and facilitating legislative change when indicated, FirstRight has formed three committees. This Yahoo group is for organization of and discussions regarding the FirstRight Legislation committee.

FirstRight BREASTFEEDING LEGISLATIVE ACTION COMMITTEE
•Purpose - Determine current status of state and national breastfeeding legislation. Encourage/support efforts to improve legal protection for breastfeeding mothers.
•Project – Compile database of lactivist contacts in each state; seek out groups ready to work toward a legislative change in their area.

Anyone committed to FirstRight’s goals are welcome. Participants are asked to be mindful of the guidelines posted below.

1. We are a lactation activist list only - articles about cosleeping, vaxing, non-vaxing, EC, etc. are not within the scope of our list.
2. Be respectful when posting.
