Hello everyone, I am new to your group. A while back, my daughter had
a meltdown and I was able to call on a member of your group for help.
I attended the autism expo that you held last year. Although I have
expected a diagnosis of autism with my daughter, its one thing to
suspect it and another to actually hear it from a professional.
Anyway, today we got the final word from childrens hospital that indeed
my daughter is autistic. I am still numb, even though I thought I had
prepared for this. I find myself hoping that I am following the right
path for her development. My daughter is 3 1/2 years old and has just
begun a public pre-school. She is in a class for disabled students,
and, has an IEP. We are also going to apply for an ABA program. After
that, I don't know. I do know that I love my daughter very much, and
she is a very happy child...most of the time, and is trying very hard
to communicate. She has had speech therapy and will continue that at
school along with some occupational therapy. Wish me luck. If anyone
has any suggestions or care to offer any support, that is much
appreciated and welcome. sorry such a long post..
