This Greater Philadelphia Chapter of the Autism Society of America listserv is RESTRICTED to FAMILY MEMBERS of individuals, age 17 or older with AUTISM SPECTRUM DISORDER (ASD) who reside in PENNSYLVANIA (PA).

Family members from all of Pennsylvania are welcome to join this list serv.

Together, we learn about the needs of adults in the whole spectrum of Autism,
including Autism (ASD)/Intellectual Disabilities (ID) / Mental Retardation (MR),
Autism, Pervasive Developmental Disorder-Nos (PDD-Nos),
Asperger (AS) and other related neurological disorders.

Its purpose is to share information and provide support for families who are concerned about the daily needs and future of adults with ASD in Pennsylvania.

There is a crucial need to implement life span adult services, including employment and appropriate housing.

Parents had no choice as to what disability nor what level of functioning in the Autism Spectrum Disorder their older adolescent or adult children would have.

All members of this group shall work together respectfully. We can learn much from each other, by learning about the diversity of needs and strengths of adults with ASD. Members shall respect the confidentiality of members' discussions by not sharing them outside this listserv.

This list serv was created by the ASA Phila. Adult Services Committee, who are family members of individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder, from late adolescence to adulthood.
