By coincidence I was reading about endometriosis this morning in John
R Lee's book, "What your doctor may not tell you about menopause". It
is not just about menopause, but covers hormonal problems from the
teens to old age.
What should happen during the monthly cycle is that estrogen levels
should peak at the time of ovulation, then in the second half of the
month progesterone levels should predominate. Many women in the West
suffer from anovulatory cycles; they don't ovulate and don't get this
rise in progesterone. This creates an imbalance between estrogen and
progesterone, often called estrogen dominance. This relative lack of
progesterone leads to many different health problems.
He says that the cause of endometriosis is unclear, but natural
progesterone stops further proliferation of endometrial cells. He
advises using natural progesterone cream from day 6 to day 26 each
month. Over 4 to 6 months monthly pains subside as healing of the
inflammatory sites occurs.
I suspect that by cutting out phytoestrogens you are helping to
correct an estrogen-progesterone imbalance.

There is a section about endometriosis on pages 259 to 261.

to understand the subject better. About 3.5 years ago, I started
avoiding foods high in phytoestrogen, which significantly decreased my
endometriosis symptoms.
