Yes. Two methods of detoxification are related to homocysteine:
sulphation, and methylation.

This diagram explains it better than I can explain in words:

http://www.nutriwest.com/articles/homovmsm.htm

I urge caution with methylation supplements. Folic acid raises
histamine levels. Some people aren't very good at utilising folic acid
for methylation. They're better off avoiding it and using choline
and/or betaine, AKA trimethylglycine (TMG). Also, returning
homocysteine to methionine instead of converting it to cysteine can
give you a deficiency in cysteine, which you need in order to detox
things via sulphation.

I don't know whether homocysteine is actually truly bad in itself, or,
like cholesterol, whether it's just an indicator that something else
is broken. I'd personally worry less about the figures and more about
how well you feel in yourself.

Methylation supplements made me feel better when I was very sick and
didn't know about food intolerance. They made me feel worse, however,
once I went on the elimination diet. I felt a lot better when I gave
them up. I think this is because my requirements for these vitamins
were massively reduced when I stopped needing them for detoxification.
Excess vitamins need detoxing by the liver in themselves.

One of the major ketones made in the body when fasting or during a low
carb diet is acetic acid - i.e. vinegar. Acetone is another, closely
related.
