Hi Everyone! My name is Marla and I have been in the program for over
8 years. I had started to feel stagnant. I used to be available for
all types of service work i.e., coffee maker, secretary, greeter, get
the speakers, institution rep, even just drive people to meetings.
But then LIFE happended. And I had to take what I learned in the
rooms and actually apply it to my life. I am now a single parent of
a 10yr old boy with ADHD and severe bipolar. And twin girls that are
about to turn 4. Talk about life on life's terms. It has been very
difficult at times, but I have never felt the need to pick up. And I
know that is one thing that I can offer others. No matter what, you
don't have to pick up. So this is what I recently learned- that the
rooms are to show you how to live outside of them. And that it is
okay if my responsibilites at home are preventing me from doing what
I used to do. So.. .I had to do something different. had to do
something different if I wanted to get something different. So I got
on my trusty computer and found you all. I joined the archives
committee for my area. We just had the NERAASA(Northeast Regional AA
Service Assembly) convention this past weekend and it was
incredible. So many service people congregating at once. It was a
feeling of fellowship I had now experienced before. I try to
diligently attend my home group and at least one other meeting a
week. I am sponsoring someone and try to attend a meeting with her
once a week. The best part about this program is that there is
always something new to do and achieve! I LOVE it. I have been
receiving digest posts and the daily letter for a few months now, and
I have to express my gratitude and sense of daily renewal and
connection that I feel. Pat, you and Nancy keep me rocking on! With
much gratitude and love and service...
