The Federal Government Affairs Key Contact Group was established 6 years ago in an effort to assist FPTA members with adressing their US House of Representitives and their US Senators on issues of importance at the Federal Level.
This goup has been kept up todate about establishing a relationship with your Congressmen and dissemenation of vital information with regards to Physical Therapy.
Currently the 2 most important issues on the Federal level are:
1) Continuing to work on the permanent repeal of the $1500 cap (now $1740 with adjustment for inflation) on outpatient Physical Therapy.
2) Direct Access to Physical Therapy through medicare.
The March on Washington 3 years ago was a great success due to the Key Contact networks as Florida had the second largest contingent of therapist in DC out of 2000 therapist that attended.
Any member of the FPTA is invited to join. If you are interested, you can contact Ken Jacobs PT, ATC at kenjac858@comcast.net. I will be glad to answer any questions that you have.
