Hi Dirk and all,
:~ )
Yes Dirk, a similar effect could be achieved by wearing padded gloves, if
the padding was thick enough (the pads are pretty thick...about an inch). I
say similar rather than the same, as there's another factor involved with
using the pads. The large circumference of the pads serve to distribute the
load over the hands. So we have load distribution combined with very thick
padding. Holding a thick sponge in each hand would probably also work quite
well.
The padding certainly made doing the bench press much more comfortable,
which was the objective. You mention having experienced a similar effect
when using lifting hooks. That makes perfect sense. Do you have the 1-Ton
Hooks? I have a set, and find them first rate.
Steve

Couldn't the same effect be achieved by wearing some padded gloves? I
think sisco mentioned some in the train smart book that had gel in
them. I assume that the padding just made it less painful in the
hands so you could push harder with your chest?
Just curious as I had a similar thing happen when I started using the
lifting hooks.
