Rob,
I never owned the old machine, but I can tell you what I think of the
XF7000 so far.
I put the machine together and did my first workout 12/28/05. I am
doing the A/B routine with the bent over row option for Lats. The
first couple workouts took a little getting used to and there was some
frustration and doubt. After about 2 weeks, working the machine became
fairly easy, not much to complain about. One of the most important
things I had to do was mark the notches with a sharpie so I could
quickly setup the workout myself and exactly the way I had it last
workout. I wrote on a piece of paper what notch I needed (Shoulders,
28) for example. So if you do what I did you should enjoy the Xf700.
My guess is its a little more work on Leg day since you only have 1
machine vs. 2. I have to say I love doing Leg press and Calf press on
XF7000, it feels like it targets the muscle well. I also really love
dead lift. So far the bent over row is the hardest exercise for me. I
think I am doing it right, but it's easy to get fairly large
difference in numbers by changing your form slightly. I like how easy
it is to "tweak" each exercise by moving it 1 notch at a time until
you find your best reading.
I was doing SCT in the gym for about 4 months before I bought this
machine. I was also eating really well and a lot of calories (I am
trying to put on mass) the combination was working great. I was
putting on about 1 pound every 8 days! I got up to a record high for
me of 158, at 5'11". I then got lazy and took time off from the gym
while waiting for the machine which took like 2+ months and my diet
went to shit in comparison. I am back working out since the New Year,
but I am sitting at a measly 149 :(
I am using My Str Coach since they gave it to me for free, but I am
not sure it will ever adjust the rest days. The only reason I am doing
it this way is for the 20 pound guarantee.
