Re: Transplant & Evans Syndrome

Dear Nancy and Randy,

It was my son, Micah, who was seen by Dr. Gill (now retired, much to my
dismay) and Dr. Busell. When his platelets crashed (below 1,000 for six
months), he did not respond to IVIG, but has had (twice) excellent responses
to vicristine. He has not ever been on cytoxin. For a while, he was on Dr.
Busell's recommended regimen of danazol and immuran to no effect. He is
currently maintained on low-dose prednisone.

It has been many years since we have taken Micah to Dr. Busell. He is,
however, extremely knowledgeable and much has happened in these past seven
years since Micah's initial diagnosis.

I am currently living outside of Philadelphia. If you ever want more
information or just want to vent, feel free to call me...my cell number is
610-304-7575.

As it happens, Micah is home for the weekend to see his younger brother
perform in the high school musical. It is always so wonderful to see him
healthy and energetic...I will pray for the same for Rachel.

Don't forget to take care of yourselves (whenever possible).

Shelly
