Re: [Epithelioid_Sarcoma] questions to ask medical oncologist

Dear Kana,

One of the most important things to ask your doctor is if she can determine what stage your ES is in based on the pathology report. also ask her how wide of margins does she plan on removing during the surgery and then what would the follow-up treatment options be. how long with the recovery take and what will be the percentage for recurrence if any. If you are only going for radiation ask her how many round of treatment you will be undergoing and how damaging will the burns be to the area being treated, also what are the chances of scaring any vital organs during treatment. Try to go in with as many questions as you can so that she knows you are well prepared for the treatments. This is your time to try and set your mind at ease alittle so never feel like you are asking too many questions, you have the right to know everything.

Good Luck,

Tim

Hi. So, tomorrow I am going to meet my oncologist for the first time. I am trying to think of questions to ask her. You would think that I would have a ton of questions, right? Wrong. For some reason, I am blanking out on what I really want to ask and have only come up with a few basic ones (eg: have you had an ES patient before?) Any suggestions? I wonder if this is because I am still in shock/denial of my condition? It has only been a little over a month, yet, I feel like it has been centuries ago. Anyway, I would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks.

Kana
