thanks for the good wishes...and you keep that hope and fight - for you and
especially for your daughter. I have absolute hope and faith that you will be
there for her. and every single day is important. I hope you don't have the
ups and downs my mom had over the last 12 yrs, and I hope that you keep
fighting. Think about what 12 yrs is! that is huge. And I have so much hope
for you!

about your mother. That was really comforting news. This week has been one of
those weeks where I have not been too hopeful and scared to death that I may not
see my 17 month old daughter grow up. But your mom's story has renewed that hope
and has given me to the motivation to keep fighting the good fight. It may
not/will not be easy as demonstrated my your mother's experience, but if it
keeps me alive for one more day, that is all the motivation I need. Thank you
again. Best wishes to you and your family. I hope your mother continues to do
well for many, many years to come!

the inside of her thigh/knee) and no radiation. Went just short of 5 yrs with
no signs of disease. Then recurrence at that same site. Had that removed,
followed by 6 weeks of radiation. Again, nothing for 4 yrs, then mets to her
lung. Had a large part of her lung removed. Then about 2 yrs later they found
it in a lymph node in her abdomen near her stomach/diaphragm area. Had
cyberknife radiation. Okay, so this has been a lot, and some pretty major
surgeries, but she is HERE. She feels good. No sign of anything going on.
When she was diagnosed, my son was 10. My dad had died one month earlier..
Today, we went to watch my son at work. He is now 22 yrs old. He is a teacher
and coaching high school football and she drove about 3 hrs and we went and sat
in the rain to "watch him coach".

hope. I am very grateful to have my mom. It has been a hard battle, but she is
here and I am grateful.

I wish you many more to come. Where did you have Epithelioid Sarcoma? it seems
to hit everyone in a different place. Were your surgeries minor or major ones?
And I'm very interested in hearing why your doctors came up with your treatment
plan.. What stage were you in when you found the cancer?

cancer free for over two years. I go to Hillman Cancer Center in Pittsburgh and
I went to Dana-Farber in Boston for a consult. I had 4 surgeries, 29 days of
radiation, and 6 rounds of chemo. I go in November for another CAT scan. If I
could be of any help, please contact me.

doctors, unfortunately none of them can agree on the proper treatment for this
type of cancer, it is to rare and very few doctors have ever seen it or worked
with it. I'm scheduled for my second surgery on Oct. 16Th and at that time they
are going to use radiation on me while they have me on the table and open. Its
new and not to many hospitals have the machine to do this. but it save the skin
and tissue from being damaged. My doctors have also said that nothing would cure
this type of cancer and that is will keep coming back, but in my case they all
agree that chemo would not work on me, so go figure! I have Epithelioid in my
Chest. Good luck with which ever way you go with your treatment and remember to
keep a positive attitude during it all, that's more then half the battle to live
longer.

surgery to remove the tumor (which is in my upper thigh groin area). I am still
recovering from the surgery, but I am thinking about radiation therapy. I don't
know what to do because the studies don't show that radiation would increase my
chances of survival, even though it would decrease the rate of recurrence. The
doctors are letting me decide how to proceed, however, the consensus seems to be
no radiation. It is only the radiation oncologist who believes it maybe
beneficial at this time. I am hoping some of you may have gone through radiation
yourself or have loved ones who have. Any advice one way or another? Thanks so
much for your thoughts.
