I've heard they can but have never researched the topic.

 

For example: can a woman who runs a program and spends the majority of funding on her own race pass a lie detector test when asked, "Do you distribute funds in an unbiased manner to all races?" because she's thinking, "Yes, it's only fair the crux of the money go to my race because we need it the most."

 

Can the President/CEO of a company pass a lie detector test when asked, "Did this client make any threats, and do you think she endangers your staff?" because he's thinking, "Yes, she said she was going to expose us as frauds and such exposure would destroy my reptutation and power."

 

I am not saying anyone would be asked these specific questions. I am just trying to grasp the mentality that would enable someone to pass a lie detector test.
