April 1, 2009, Manorville, 7:00 PM ~ We will show Eric Sullivan’s short film, Evan’s Gate, that he created to get major production companies interested and it did!  The film is about a father’s quest to save his son who has Lyme disease.   I met Eric Sullivan, a native New Yorker, at the Physician’s Roundtable where he discussed the promising news that this film will be produced by a major film company.

Please scroll down for more meeting reminders.

*Also, good news: Timothy Grey and Breanne Russell ‘s “Under The Eight Ball,” is a full length film about Tim’s sister, Lori, who was diagnosed with ALS but she also had Lyme Disease.  From their website: {{Lori had suddenly collapsed one day in 2006 and, . . . was then diagnosed at different times, with Guilian Barre Syndrome,  Multiple Sclerosis, Lupus, Lyme disease, Lou Gehrig’s disease, then Lyme disease again, Lou Gehrig’s disease again.  She was once told by her neurologist that “Everyone dies”.}}

Where did the film get its title? The answer, on their website: {{ In 1951 at Fort Detrick, crews built a hollow metal sphere four stories high. Inside germ weapons were to be exploded, creating mists of infectious aerosols for testing on animals....and people. Employees called it the eight ball.}}

* I was fortunate to meet Eric, Tim and Breanne at the Physicians Roundtable.  It was amazing to see these terrific, talented young people, passionate about their work and about Lyme disease.*

* Some of “Under The Eight Ball” takes place at the NatCapLyme’s September 24 Congressional Briefing and this leads into the following news:

* Just finished The Baker’s Dozen - we are lucky to have this book added on to our "Lymebook" shelves.

From the Press Release:

{{New Book Exposes “Junk Science,” Conflicts of Interest, Disease Guidelines Affecting Millions

Critical evidence revealed about IDSA guidelines, science, researchers examined in recent Anti-Trust Investigation

Madison, WI – Midwest author, researcher, and Lyme patient PJ Langhoff has released a scientific exposé revealing the politics, conflicts of interest, academic ties, research, and IDSA guidelines for Lyme disease. Third in a series, “The Baker’s Dozen & the Lunatic Fringe: Has Junk Science Shifted the Lyme Disease Paradigm?” exposes key evidence offered during CT Attorney General Richard Blumenthal’s anti-trust investigation into the Infectious Disease Society of America’s (IDSA) clinical practice guidelines for Lyme disease; findings which called the guidelines formation process “flawed.” }}
