A notification list for emergencies in the United States ONLY. This is where to post information about breaking news that might need a response from the list members. This includes, communicators, first responders, Fire, EMS, S&R, Police, CERT, Amateur Radio, anyone that could read this message and think “That’s near me, let me check to see if I’m needed.” It’s for breaking news that requires response… examples might be plane crashes, earth quakes, tornado touch downs, WMD, terrorism. It should NOT be used for events outside the US. This is the major difference between this list and other fine lists at Yahoo. It should also not be used for breaking news that in no way needs response, for example, a verdict in a major trial.

Keep all postings VERY short. Most of us will be reading these on our cell phones or pages. Just the facts: who, what, where when how and maybe why. Also please cite your source so we can tune in too.
