I have just spent several minutes discussing Dover with Joe Manning.
HE explained to ME that he has promised that ONCE you arrive,YOUR
ticket, INCLUDING the banquet will be provided you. You will be able
to participate in the evenings events to honor your father and speak
if you feel the need. MANY will be in attendance that knew him and
of him. The banquet is for 150 people ONLY and will sell out soon,
SO my advice is that should you desire to have the gf as your
consort for the weekend, we're gonna have to find $40 for her to go.
That way she will be included at the banquet as well as you and I.
As to the food, I asked and it is buffet style and there is salad
there and many other vegetables which she may avail herself of. It
is self serve and she can make whatever she desires to and as much
as she likes. I can only get you there for now, as my finances have
been drastically reduced. I believed I would get something from my
wife's insurance and I find that won't happen now, so I'm left with
almost $2,000 in rent/phone bills that I must find some way to pay
off. It's more of an annoyance than a setback but I still didn't
need it to occur.
I will be discussing the rooms with my partner and once settled I
will be talking to you regarding the sleeping and such arrangements.
BE advised that WE will be taking some VERY precious cargo with us
in the manner of several thousand dollars worth of art to be
displayed and sold to help cover our expenses and such. THAT is a
primary reason I am able to go as my partner wants to see what this
market is like. Should it prove fruitful it will becoem a regular on
our schedule and we would then become the art dealers to Dover. It
is VERY important that we arrive and setup so that people can see
what we have and it is displayed properly. We will be listed in the
dirtectory of Dover events once I know what rooms we will be staying
in. I am most likely bringing two others with me and they will aide
in the display and selling of this, but they will also require
breaks and such for their work. THIS is where YOU come in. I will
see that you are fully briefed in the artwork before Dover so that
you may HELP people choose their art. WE are NOT salesmen. Salesmen
push people to decide and take their money. WE allow people to
experience it, and should they decide to purchase it, we will gladly
allow them to do so with courtesy and grace becoming a reputable art
dealer, of which YOU will be a part of that team for that weekend.
Understand I am NOT asking you to WORK the whole convention,
merely to lend us the aide of your presence for a few hours here and
there to help offset our costs and yours for the room.
Also I have been informed that weapons must be sheathed at all
times and may ONLY be displayed and NOT carried. I was planning on
bringing my SOK, but am thinking it will not be permitted as it has
points that would need to be covered. Those are the rules so I will
abide by them as I expect we all will.
