At the conference last year, Peter himself asked us to
realise that the Blood Type Diet is an evolving
science. As time goes by, scientific testing, and the
clinical aspect of his research is teaching us new
facts, and he will get those to us as soon and as
efficiently as possible. Use the typebase at his
website, and read everything. In general, no grain is
great for O's, most should truly be avoided, and a few
are neutral, not to be eaten everyday even, for
optimum health.

I'm new to this, but I think everything Dr. D'adamo saya makes sense,
and I feel better already. However, I'm confused on some points, i.e.
in the first book he says oat flour is okay for type O's, while in
the cookbook he says it's a no-no.Also, in the first book he says
that cabbage and brussel sprouts are not good for O's, but in the
small paperback list of foods book, this is contradicted. I
appreciate anyone's input on this.

Can anyone tell me if they have ever heard about Rice Bran oil and
whether it's okay for "O's" to have? I have been using it since I
was told by a local Japanese restaurant that they use it for all
their tempura items and it is supposed to have the same qualities as
olive oil, but without the flavor of olive oil. It is also supposed
to not cause heartburn like other oils do.
Please post a message if you have heard anything about it.
Thanks!

Dear Rosie:
Sharing your success with the BTD is very helpful! I have followed this diet for
the last eight years, as well has have counseled and educated hundreds through
the years with very positive results like yours. I suffered crippling pain for
eight years prior to learning of the BTD, and three months is all it took to
become pain free. I also used to snore like a freight train, did so since I was
quite a little girl, and over the many years in this diet, my body has healed to
the point that I no longer do so. So if anyone thinks of this diet of a mere
short term fix for weight problems, let me assure them your body will benefit
over the long haul becoming stronger in every way. So you keep up the good work!

Hello there, my name is naila, i live in Indonesia. I started the
diet 4 weeks back. I lost 6 kilograms (great! have tried so many
diets before only to see the scale kept rising), my RSI (pains in my
fingers everytime i type too much) disappears (finally! after having
it for 2 years) and my migrain finally ends. Just one thing, though.
Yesterday, i felt so weak, i din't know what happened and when i
checked at my doc, the blood pressure reading was 100/50. Teh doc
suggested to eat meat a lot (which i have done in the past a month,
eliminating grains), so not really a helping suggestion. does anybody
have any idea why bp drops (i usually at 110/90). Thank you.

Hi,
I just wanted to pop in and tell that after about 3 weeks of ER, I've
lost 8 1/2 pounds. It's a lot, but at first I suppose it's to be
expected. And this rate will slow down.
I do drink 8 glasses of water each day plus cherry herbal tea. It
took only 3 days to give up coffee. I have no food cravings and
that's a blessing that I'm grateful for. The Avoid foods are easy to
avoid when you don't feel cravings for them.
I have a very long way to go in the area of weight loss. But the
energy boost and camlness that I feel is immediate. I expected to
feel more active. But the calm feeling was unexpected and a delight.
Yesterday, I went shopping and found large veal chops at the market.
This is on the menu for tonight. It's a major treat. But we don't eat
out very often. I like to cook, so I splurged. Also, it's been years
since we've had veal due to the "calf" thing.
All the best,
Eleny

You might want to look into blood type diet theory. Learning which foods
are "poison" for you may make a big difference in your wellbeing when you
cut them out. It has worked for others enough that it is worth looking
into. I can create depression in myself by how I eat, speaking from almost
40 years of experience with my tendency to have depression when I don't
take care of myself properly. I have had years of therapy and it can help,
but I find the best way out for me is through physical changes. Who cares
how much you UNDERSTAND about your life if you don't FEEL good!? And the
drugs don't solve the problem, they just mask it.

Subject: Herbal?
Hello David.
I've had experience with those herbs. I took them for a long time in my
non-prescription quest to "cure" my Crohns, and all of them did very
little, except for racking up my credit card debt. I know you're not
going to want to hear this, but the most dramatic improvement I had was
when I STOPPED eating vegan. I was vegetarian for 3 years, vegan for
another 10 (13 years total). All my serious digestive problems came on
about 5 years after I implemented my whole grain-based diet. In
hindsight, I realize I had problems the whole time, but was just young
and healthy enough at the start, and charged with excessive
carbohydrates, that my body withstood the assault for a time. Perhaps
that was because I ate all organic and no refined sugar, I dunno.
I've had Crohn's for at least 7 years (probably longer). I had a
ruptured appendix 11 years ago that obliterated my cecum to the point
that I had to have 15 inches of terminal ileum and colon removed. That
was during my vegan years. I continued my vegan diet up until 5 years
ago, when I wasted away to 95 lbs.
I'm happy to say that I'm now in remission, without the use of ANY
drugs--diet only. My diet is paleo, similar to SCD, only without the
dairy, and also low-residue, low-starch. Completely grain-free. I am
$15,000 in debt from all the herbs and supplements I tried over the past
7 years. Only a few of the basic vitamins and minerals have really
helped, although I do take some herbs occasionally just for extra
nutrition now, as our evolutionary ancestors ate many more species of
plants and animals than we currently do.
When I became an ethical vegetarian at 25 (I think?), I was too stubborn
to listen to any but the vegetarian "experts" on the subject of
nutrition and evolution. My mind was set on my vegan goal, and the
information I chose to expose myself to reinforced my commitment.
Feeling great on the diet for a time reinforced that commitment. But I
ended up with Crohn's, osteoporosis, and chronic fatigue. I'm only 42.
My story is not the only one like this. There are many, many folks I've
come across on the net in the past 7 years who are young to middle aged
ex-vegetarians who developed IBD and other autoimmune diseases as
vegetarians. They also used all the pills, potions and lotions to no
avail. Some are not willing to work on diet and thus remain on
medications. Many have chosen to work on their diet, experiment, and
are doing well.
I appologize for the long lecture. Not, I'm sure, what you wanted to
hear. It is just my roundabout sort of way to explain why goldenseal,
bromelain and marshmallow didn't do much for me.
Semi-wreckless, free-spirited, yet-somewhat-regretful,

John, No I haven't been symptom free just have not been back to the
hospital since the exacerbation that took my ability to walk and see
in August 1999. I have walked a long road back to where I am today.
I used to not be able to get out of bed at least 3 but most times 4
days a week. Now I walk 4 miles almost every day. The days I don't
walk are just too busy work wise and unfortunately I don't have the
time to walk. There is still some tingling in my hands and feet at
times but no big deal. My eye sight has returned to normal, visual
field, color, one image, etc.. My energy levels are greater than
before I had the severe episode in 1999. Not that this is the end
all measurement of treatment efficacy, but the lesions in my brain
have reduced in number as well as size as identified by way of MRI.
The whole issue of getting my immune system and subsequent
neurologolical function back in balance has encompassed a great deal
changes in my lifestyle. Diet has been a very important part.
Mostly by taking stresses away from my system.
Dental work:
I have also been
chelating mercury as well as tending to my dental issues by removing
the amalgram fillings and pulling teeth that have had root canals.
This has been very helpful. I have just completed a liver and
gallblatter cleansing and am following a parasite cleansing protocol
currently.
I have found for me that the way back to health and a life
with minimum or no symptoms has been to rebalance my spiritual,
mental, and physical being. This requires a great deal of dedication
and disipline and each time I deviate from what I know works my
symptoms increase (but no where near as severe as they were).
I have done all of this without any pharmaceuticals at all with the
exception of the IV cortizone while in the hospital in 1999 (what I
call my naive period).
We all need to take charge of our own care
and follow what makes us feel better. I believe that there are many
different protocols that will help each and everyone of us, however
we all are different and I believe the cause of this immune imbalance
for each of us is just as variable as the treatment protocols.

FLOUR,SUGAR ETC.
AS I READ THIS article it dawned on me that recently I had

eating marmalade sandwiches made with white bread for my dinner,

I immediately stopped eating this lethal cocktail, and the
decay rate of my teeth is now practically ZERO
The reason for this is that unrefined flour etc contains all tbe
vitamins
needed to digest it , once these vitamins and minerals
are removed ,the body draws on its own reserves to replace them,
and robs the teeth and bones of these essential substances -leading to
toothdecay,etc.

Do you know what blood type you are? I am a blood type
O and can't tolerate psyllium, aloe, or apple juice,
all things I have used throughout my life. Once I
started paying attention to the blood type diet as
outlined in Live Right for Your Type by Dr Peter
D'Adamo, I've found that many of my minor health
problems are caused by food I should avoid.

Hi Jerry,
Although the SCD might not be the diet for him, have
you looked into the Eat Right for Your Type diet?
This diet recommonds eating or not eating foods
depending upon your blood type, and buy eating foods
good for your type, helps the body work better and is
may help solve health problems by helping the body
help itself.
This is not an overnight "cure" for anything. It may
take months to get the body back on track and get rid
of any toxins. But it helped me with my crohnes and
the three books that are out, Eat Right for Your Type,
Cook Right for Your Type and the lastest book, Live
Right for Your Type, has a lot of info and testimonals
that you can look into.
But I have to warn you, that a lot of doctors out
there, for some reason, do not relate getting better
thought your food. They all want a merical cure
though the drugs or procedures that they do. But it's
getting better and some doctors are open to the idea.
This is only one diet type, and as you probably know
there are a lot of them out there.
I hope you can find one that will help your friend.
Good Luck and peace to you too!
CJ
I have recently joined the Group and I have to say that my step-
daughter and myself are drinking and use rice milk. Since we have we
have not had the usual allergy problems and I do advocate the use of
this liquid for children after the age of 1 yo, possibly even
before. There is a rice milk that is made w/calcium and vit d. But
personally, I can't see why mothers now adays are so hung-up about
breast-feeding their children. It is a normal, natural way to give
them a jump-start on their immune systems and not to forget how easy
it is-not getting up at night warming up the bottles! You can use
the pump if you need to go back to work and fill the bottles ahead of
time. I think that 6 months is a good time limit for new babies. I
speak from partial experience-I had 1 of 3 who was breast-fed for a
length of time and it really helped him! I learned from experience as
I went. I have friends who have gone much longer with great results
and some who even have had the opportunity to have their babies
brought to them for the lunchtime feeding which has worked so well!
Every woman who is comtemplating having children should re-evaluate
why she doesn't want to breast-feed.

Hello Dick Sullivan,
Yeah, Santa Fe is paradise!-- since Jan 1999,
I've given up my home-mixed regular Coke and vanilla
ice cream slurps; my twice-daily 20 oz mugs, half filled with dry
milk,
1 Tbs instant coffee, 1 Tbs cocoa powder, 2 Tbs sugar,
hot city water added, cinnamon and nutmeg to taste
(great for surfing the Net for hours);
and all meat, poultry, fish, eggs, milk-butter-yogurt-cheese;
in favor of the John McDougall diet, low-protein and low-fat:
http://www.drmcdougall.com
rice, beans, vegetables, a few fruits, with garlic, salt, pepper;
two quarts daily of popcorn with 2 Tbs flaxseed oil, garlic, salt,
pepper;
1 - 2 pints oatmeal, cooked with same amount of deionized water with
various nuts and raisins. Gave up all wheat for months, then found
that sprouted grain wheat breads are fine,
2-4 slices daily with honey and organic peanut butter.
All food is organic. Gave up coffee and cocoa
last month-- have black, green, and chai teas. Additive-free
vitamin-mineral capsule, 4 gm C, 2 gm E, calcium-magnesium capsule,
1000 micrograms B-12, 1200 micrograms folic acid, ginko, ginsing,
200 mg 5-HTP.
At age 58, my past good health is much improved,
about 140 lb, 5'11", little exercise, rare colds,
decades of very loose stools have become soft formed,
forehead gets a little rashy, usual March allergies (for which I'm OK
with a morning chinese herbal pill), much improved mental clarity,
focus, and evenness (always had mild attention deficit disorder),
hair thinning on top, grey beard (if I dared grow it),
lost a molar in March due to sudden large cavity, healthy gums,
7 mercury amalgam fillings were replaced with epoxy silicon
dioxide composites in 1984 (ending metallic taste in mouth,
reducing headaches, less gum bleeding). Gave up potatoes, since
two alkaloids common in many varieties of potatoes may well
be a major co-factor in schizophrenia-- the world's highest
incidence is in Ireland... Also, no soy, due to high levels
of hormones, fat, and protein. Smoked a pack a day from
1974 to 1984. Gave up pot and LSD in 1980.
Almost never used alcohol. Some days I put a tsp sugar in
my pint of tea, some days I use 6 drops stevia extract.
Rather free of stress, having worked 16 years as home hospice
care giver-- indulge in wonderful meditations with my friends
every day, and with Sondra, my lady, an acapuncturist. Usually
sleep from midnight to 6 AM, with little naps during some of
the meditations-- danger of drooling!
I drank about 10 L lemon Crystal Light in 1995, on ice with orange
juice, over a period of 6 months, and by Sept. 1995
slowly had gotten a very stiff neck, very hard to look to my L while
driving, and then suddenly at midnight had bad R shoulder joint
pain with a permanent numbness on the end of my R thumb on the
R side-- at 3 AM, I bought aspirin, Tylenol, and Ibuprofen,
and took lots that night. Since I had gotten a mild neck jolt
a few weeks earlier from being rear-ended in my car, then with
the many chiropractic adjustments plus acapuncture plus almost
accidentally not buying more Crystal Light, I soon had normal
neck mobility. Only learned about the possibility of
aspartame toxicity in Jan 1999. So, it's possible I had a
reaction to aspartame. I never noticed headaches from the
rare Diet Cokes I had, and have had no aspartame since Jan
1999. Mild headaches a few times a year. Tonsils and
adenoids out in 1947 at age 5; knocked out for 10 minutes
in 1953 at age 10 from blow to top of head-- I believe I
had permanent mild cognitive deficits from that. Grew up
as a bookworm nerd type in a small town in East Texas.
Typically, very slow at reading piano music, but good at
turning myself loose into spontaneous improvisations.
Not talented at the visual arts or singing, poorly
coordinated at fast sports. Usual disposition: happy,
sweet, relaxed, playful, independent, stubborn,
yet accomodating and helpful. This year I tend to wake
up feeling friendly and up, rather than needing an hour
to feel OK. Some dream recall, with enjoyment and
interest, occasionally precognitive about the next day or
two.

of aspartame toxicity? Since Jan 1999 I have found almost no reports
of aspartame users who are free of the typical complaints reported by
aspartame reactors. The claim is that the toxicity is cumulative--
many reactors report that their symptoms did not start to evolve until
after months of use.
The claim that widespread aspartame use protects many undiagnosed
diabetics is reasonable on the face of it, and deserves careful
evaluation. The critics claim is that aspartame increases food and
drink cravings, and in other ways worsens the diabetic process.
Dr. H.J. Roberts probably discusses this in detail:

Having been diagnosed with Type II diabetes last February, I gave up
my
daily intake of 6 Classic Cokes and switched to Diet Pepsi and Diet
Coke. I've lost 55 lbs since then and attribute some of that to the
Diet Pepsi. I used to drink 2 or 3 of the Cokes in the evening,
and now that I sip on the Diet Pepsis instead,
I sleep better at night now that my blood sugar is not roaring.
I now buy NutraSweet in the big 750 count
economy packs at Sam's Club. Instead of sugar, I dump a bunch on my
strawberries and blueberries which I float in soy cream, this is my
food pleasure for the day. Since I have switched from sugar to
Apartame, I feel a million times better.
There are 14 million diabetics in the US, and some estimates are that
there are that many still undiagnosed. For about 10% of the U.S.
population, sugar is a deadly poison. Up to now, and undetected by
any population study, the possible adverse effects of Apartame on
the population as a whole are far less devastating than those caused
by
sugar.
Some diabetics living near the Canadian border slip across and buy
cyclamates by the gallon, a substance banned here by the notorious
FDA!
Some 38 other countries allow the use of cyclamates, since it was
determined that the original studies showing it to be carcinogenic
were in error. This includes most of Western Europe.
The National Academy of Science made that determination in 1984.
Abbott labs and Dupont are/were the co-holders of the
cyclamate patents, and the idea that the FDA can be bought
is begging the question here.

Hello Rich Murray,
Sure you can use my anecdotal evidence. I am 61.
I have been an Aspartame user since it first came out, and on average
maybe 2 or three packets a day then, but it's gone up since my DM.
I might actually switch to Cyclamate if I could get hooked up with the
underground pipeline out of Canada.
Cyclamate http://www.cylcamate.com
can be used in cooking, whereas Aspartame cannot,
and it is a whole lot cheaper and comes in liquid
and can be bought in gallons. Over the years I have preferred regular
Coke over Diet, so that was one of my major sugar links.
I've used Aspartame for many things, but also used sugar too,
but I am now eliminating sugar.
My basic diet has been Pritikin/Ornish with lots of days off. Since
going diabetic, I've preferred to cut back on grains and such.
I am exploring Walford's CRON diet,
as that is pretty much where I have found myself by just
trying to work out a reasonable DM diet and also to lose weight.
Just had a pipe job -- you know the camera up the butt routine. Two
small benign polyps removed, now clean as a whistle.
My Cholesterol is 120, blood pressure runs 135/70--
I check them both regularly.
Got a meter that reads Chol. Both are rare lows in diabetics.
I suspect it is the Apartame holding them down.<grin>-- Could be!
I was DX'd at HbA1c at 7.9 in early February 2001. (by fructasomine
equivalence I am at about 5.5 now.) I've lost gone from 264 lbs in
early Feb 2001 to 208 last night on a + or - .2 Lb Tanita scale--
with 26% body fat.
No cravings -- but I suspect that is due to the CRON diet --
I think which being of an extremely high nutritional density
alleviates
the cravings.
Ever ate 1500 calories of cabbage, tomatoes, squash, and
spinach and a piece of sashimi tuna? Try it, you won't be hungry.
I do some supplementing both for the DM and the calories reduction.
I am a dietary pesco vegatarian now.
No ideology, no message for the world. It's just that
the evidence seems to indicate that fish protein is more benign than
animal. Four billion years worth of evolution has evolved
into big fish eat little fish,
and it would be arrogant of me to think that I knew better
than nature (or God for believers). If I am out at dinner at a
friends, I'll eat what's served.
Addicted? Only as far as I like an occasional sweet once in a while.
Actually I've never had a big sweet tooth, until I find out sugar is
bad for me. You always want what you can't have.
I'd be perfectly happy to
indulge in my 1.5 cups of blueberries, soy milk and Apartame
with sugar instead, that is,
except for the calories and my glucose soaring. Addicted?
Sure, to calories (I am/was fat), probably built in by evolution.
It makes sense, we're warm blooded and need lots of calories to run
us,
Some of us are more primitive than others in this
regard, and we grab the C's when we can, and given a choice, we'll go
for the fat and meat over the veggies.
They can be packed into the tummy
tighter and last longer for the hike to the next camp.
Why Apartame? It is clear from the evidence that 50 gm of
saturated fat is far more dangerous.
We're famous here in Santa Fe for big steaks,
and I know people who will sit down and eat a 20 oz Sirloin served
at our Applebee's who would die before
they'd touch a gram of Aspartame.
Got friends on Atkins who won't touch it either.
Got friends who smoke and won't touch it-- go figure!
at a small health food joint over on Alameda-- Health food cigs?
But then Whole Foods sells Ben and Jerry's--
Go figure again. -- I digress.
After more than 20 years of use I suspect if it was going to get me,
it would have, and if it was as bad as some claim, we'd be up to our
kiesters in wheelchairs and crutches.
Funny-- I just finished a Diet Pepsi while writing this. Cheers.
Oh, and I checked and you are in Santa Fe too?! --Dick Sullivan

EAT RIGHT FOR YOUR BLOOD TYPE
I am 41 years old and I am 0 negative, I have had tremendous results
with
following my blood type diet. Just to name a few, my allergies have
improved 95%, my chronic fatigue is 75% better, have more energy,
lost 15
pounds, my digestion has improved no more pepcid for digestion
problems. I am
a lot more pleasant to be around is what I am told by others. My
shoulder
pain is less tense. I just feel and look alot better, my boyfriend
and
family have noticed a big change in my attitude and outlook on life.
Trust me
I go to a homepath doctor and he told me this book would help and it
has,
sure it is not easy to give up all the things we like to eat, but
once you
get use to it and you see and feel the results you dont want to go
back to
eating bad. I have one more story to tell you I have an uncle who
got off 10
different medicines, for high blood pressure, high cholesterol,
prozac, also
he use to take 2-3 insulin shots a day for diabetes now he takes one
every
couple of days, the doctors are amazed at his progress in just four
months,
his crippled arthritic hands are totally better, no more arthritis
pill. His
blood pressure is normal, lost 35 pounds and has energy, he was
taking two
naps a day because of his diabetes making hims so tired, now his
energy is
great andno more naps during the day. He has had excellent results,
he is a
type 0 and is 55 years old. But I must say he sticks to it and does
not
cheat ever. Good luck if you try the diet and let me know how it
works for
you. No cheating though or it wont work you cant do it half way. I
liked
wheat, corn, dairy, caffeine, tomatoes, avocados, but now that i
feel so
much better it was worth giving all that up. Try it

my uncle was diagnosed with advanced prostate cancer gleason of 10,

given 3 mos to live.
3 weeks ago, he started on flax oil/cc at the rate of 30 tablespoons
of flax per day with about 5 cups of cottage cheese. I know this
sounds like a lot, but he did it, and kept it down. Basically he went
on a flax/cc fast i.e., his only nutrition was flax/cc.
Just want to say, that his pain disappeared in 3 days, and yesterday
the ct scan showed no hot spots, and his psa dropped from 220 3 weeks
ago to 1.1 yesterday, his doctor is "bewildered", and has declared
him "cancer free".
He would like to tell the list thru me, if you
want to fight this "adversary", you have to go
at with both barrels, cocked. He dares all of
to proceed with his regimen of 30 tblspns of
flax per day, if you want to get results.

Hi Marius. Many Type 2 diabetics who go on the restricted
carbohydrate diet of Atkins or Dr. Eades, "Protein Power", find that
their blood pressure drops to normal, as well as their blood sugar
and weight. This doesn't mean to just watch your sugars, tho. It
means cutting carbs down to 30 grams per day until you see the
results you need. (That's like one and a half slices of white bread a
day, or one large banana, and no other fruit, flour, grain, sugar, or
anything with carbohydrates at all. Lots of vegetables have carbs.
Carrots especially.) You need Dr. Eades book, or Adkins, so you know
what you are eating and can change your habits. You must get a tablet
and write down every carb you eat, so you can tally them up at the
end of the day. You will find Eades' website at www.proteinpower.com.
The book is $6.95 paperback. Could save your life, or prevent you
from spending the rest of your days in a wheel chair with someone
else feeding you and wiping your rear end after your stroke.
Their prograam is to stay on the 30 grams a day until you see results
and then slowly increase it to 50 grams. If your bp and sugar are
still ok you can eventually raise it to 150.
You would think you would starve, but actually you don't even get
hungry if you cut out carbs. You do need to eat pleanty of low carb
vegetables and meat tho. Your body can burn carbs (starches and
sugars), fat or protein. If you cut out the carbs it will burn fat
and protein. You don't want it to burn your muscle tissue, so you
need to do muscle building exercizes and consume sufficient protein.
So, if you want to get healthy, cut out the pasta, potatoes, bread,
cereals, rice, corn and sweets.
Hope this helps, and you can cut down on the meds and trips to the
hospital. Dick
P.S. Get the book

Sorry to be the one to tell you this, but your sex life, as you knew
it,
is probably over if they put you on meds. Ace inhibitors are maybe

first. Avoid them if you can.
Cutting carbohydrates down to about 30 grams per day has cured many
HBP
problems. Get "Protein Power" at the book store ($6.95) and read it.
It
means giving up bread or any flour product, pasta, rice, potatoes, or
anything
with sugar or starch in it until your bp is normal. Then you can
gradually
increase the carbs while you watch your bp, until it is in the 150
grams
a day range. It will bring down your weight also, if you are
overweight.
You will need to be sure to get adequate protein, so your body will
not
start digesting muscle tissue. Its all in the book.
Best of luck, Dick
