THE ABOVE DISCLAIMER is made to protect the editor's gluteus
maximus from the wrath of pharmaceutical and medical cartels
protected by regulatory law. For what it's worth, Essential Oil
related therapy predates the American Medical Association and
Food and Drug Administration by at least 6,000 years. You decide!
PHARMACEUTICAL dispensed drugs are toxic failures not fit for
human consumption. According to JAMA (Journal of the American
Medical Association), Prescribed drug-caused deaths rank 4th on
the mortality table list. 1994 statistics show 106,000 people
died from unintended drug side-effects. This would be considered
criminal by any other civilized standard.
Dr. Julian Whitaker, M.D., Medical Editor for "Health and
Healing," estimates 18 million more people have survived toxic
side effects from these same drugs prescribed by their
doctors...Over 2 million of them were bad enough to be
hospitalized in 1994 alone. Chemical Drugs and the so-called
"health" system that promotes using them are part of the
problem, not the solution.
YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE for your own health, not the AMA, FDA
or your physician. If your physician prescribes a drug for
"treatment," ask him or her what known side-effects exist.
If he or she downplays any risk, ask yourself this question...
Is playing Russian roulette with drugs worth risking your life?
It can and does happen...106,000 deaths every year!!

Announcing a New Publication
Words2Heal
After reading its first few pages, I knew Anne Buchanan, author
of Healing In His Wings had written a winner. Anne had sent me
an advance copy of her book for review. All I can say is WOW!
Anne has written one of the most profound, healing inspirational
books I have ever read. Laid out to be read as a daily devotional,
Anne develops major Biblical themes around the subject of healing.
I am so enthused with the quality and insight of her work, I asked
Anne if I could create a mail list publication around the book.
She quickly said, yes. That is how Words2heal was born.
Beginning June 1st, Words2heal will begin daily publication of
Anne's healing devotions. Beginning with Day 1 on June 1st,
subscribers will receive a daily Bible verse, devotional thought
centered on healing and prayer. Over the course of a year,
subscribers will receive 365 Bible verses on healing.

Essential Oils...Nutrition or Medicine?
by Jim Lynn
When someone mentions essential oils to you, what comes to mind?
Did you know your perception of what essential oils are or are not,
affects their efficacy? Affects their ability to do the most good?
Here in North America, most of us equate medicine as treatment for
what ails us, something we assign ourselves to whenever we feel down
or ill. When we are felling well, medicine stays in storage. When we
become sick or ill, we break open the medicine chest. Medicine then
has become something reserved for sickness and disease.
This perception is so ingrained in our subconscious, it spills
over into natural health care. Because essential oils are often
times effective against ailments, many people have come to
associate them with medicine, something to take when we get sick.
Conversely, once we feel better, the oils are retired to the
medicine chest where the aspirin and other home remedies reside.
Now there is nothing wrong in and of itself with this mind-set.
The oils can and do marvelous things for many common ailments. But
if we stop here, if we limit our understanding of essential oils
as medicine, we short change ourselves and leave ourselves open
to trouble with these precious wonders.
Short Changed:
Unlike prescription medication which is single phased, essential
oils are multi-phased. That is to say, essential oils not only
kill infections, they serve to feed and nourish the body in ways
single-phase medication cannot. So that while single-phase
medicine may eliminate a health issue, essential oils may do
likewise, but then go on to build and strengthen the body.
NOTE:
Pharmaceutical drugs usually have only one action and often disrupts
the body's natural balance (homeostasis). Ever listen to those
drug ad disclaimers on TV..."In some cases, (drug name) may cause
unexpected liver damage. See your doctor to determine if (drug name)
is right for you." This is why people taking prescription drugs are
often prescribed more than one drug...The second drug is dispensed to
counter undesirable effects of the first drug. Of course, no mention
is made of this in television ads.
Unlike pharmaceutical drugs, natural essential oils work with the
body in a multiplicity of ways. For instance, the oil of lavender
is prized for its antimicrobial, calming, and cell regenerative
qualities. The oil of frankincense is known for its ability to sooth
inflamed tissue, balance hormones, kill bacteria and for its immune
supportive properties.
This is why people who apply an oil to relieve one health issue are
many times surprised to also notice relief of another. This is the
power that lies hidden within every drop of oil.
Properly distilled, essential oils contain many of the plants vital
healing nutrients the human body needs to maintain health. With this
in mind, essential oils become as food, a source of nutrition.
The bottom line...People who keep essential oils out on the counter
and use them daily, report being in overall better health than those
who keep essential oils tucked away in their medicine chest.
Open to trouble:
People who think of essential oils as being medicine could find
themselves in legal trouble. First of all, unless one is licensed
as a physician, it is unlawful to diagnose, prescribe or to
"recommend" treatment for any illness, malady or disease. Period!
We cannot legally even name the malady when used in a treatment
situation.
The problem usually begins when someone asks us for help with a
health issue. The person asking is thinking "medicine." After all,
that is what medicine is suppose to do...give relief of symptoms,
right? Here lies the root of the problem.
Let me give you a few examples...Like many others, I subscribe to
several essential oil discussion lists. In spite of many warnings
by those who know, here are some typical inquiries arising on
these lists asking for help.
"I have just learned that my sister-in-law's mother has Lentigo
Maligna Melanoma. I would appreciate any oil recommendations
and testimonials you may..."
And another...
"My brother-in-law was diagnosed with castlemans disease...What
treatment is recommended. Appreciate any help given."
Right away there are two observations we can make. 1) the person
asking has the mind-set that essential oils are medicine. These
people are symptom minded, not health minded. 2) They are inviting
like minded people to commit a violation of law.
The problem grows when we buy into this medicine, symptom mind-set.
Friends, we become subject to law suits and legal prosecution the
moment we recommend specific oils for specific symptomatic relief.
How much more good would come if our mind-set avoided medicine
and symptoms all-together? How much more good could be accomplished
if we would think of essential oils, not as medicine, but as
nutrients and food for healing, for "restoring" health and vitality?
See the difference?
As messengers for good health, we do ourselves and others a great
disservice by focusing on the oils as medicine. Medicine has to do
with sickness and symptoms, the business of physicians. Essential
oils are about healing and health, the business of everyone.
Disease and sickness lie at the opposite end of the health spectrum.
This is the protected realm of professional medicine. Let them have
it. There is no law protecting health. Anyone is free to recommend
essential oils for better health and vitality. When we do speak of
disease, we may speak of it only in context as a measure of one's
overall health.
It's all in our heads, but how we think of essential oils can either
be a blessing or a curse. Be wise. Prescribe health, not medicine.

Who Won the Oil Lamp?
Congratulations go to Janet Blades of Republic, Mo for winning EOO's
2000 year old oil lamp contest. Janet told me she kept reading about
the contest, but didn't enter until the last day. She saw a notice
on a list that mentioned the contest ending, so she decided to go
for it. Her words were, "I can't believe it. I never win anything."
Well, believe it, Janet. You will soon be in possession of this
ancient little jewel.
The chances of winning the oil lamp were 1 out of 377. Thank you
to all 377 who made this promotion a very fun project.
