This list was established (in January, 1999) to give people with erythromelalgia (aka "EM") a convenient way to communicate with each other about the disorder. We typically write messages about how the disorder affects us and what we are doing to try to cope better with it, or treat it more effectively.

Physical, pharmacological, surgical, and psychological treatments and reactions are subject matter that gets discussed. Psychological reactions and emotional distress caused by EM are also appropriate subject matter. We periodically offer emotional support to one another for problems and distress related to EM and our experience with it.

Members frequently ask questions about various things related to EM, and get responses from others who offer suggestions and share their own experience. However, the information shared is not meant to substitute for good medical care. Members are encouraged to have a primary care physician and to discuss all diagnostic and treatment issues with that physician.
