Dear Nadia, The REC member should hold a meeting with the Researcher and discuss with him his research before giving the decision and try to negotiate about the suitable alternatives, and asking an expert to share in the meeting and if insists about his objectives or methods, this would be the full board decision

Dear All,
I have a question regarding REC disapproval of a study protocol . What if the investigator feels that there is no satisfactory justification for disapproval of his submitted protocol ?
In other words, is it obligatory for an REC to explain in detail why did they disapprove a protocol and could there be any action to be taken by the investigator in case he/ she feels that this disapproval is not fully justified ?
Again, can the PI re-submit his study protocol asking for further or second review by the REC and giving his/her reasons for willingness to conduct this study since it is considered of minimal risk and is having potential benefits to the participants ???
Can you , please, help me in resolving this issue and if it is stated in any regulations , can you provide me with this document ????
Best regards,,
