Sharon,

I am so grateful to you for forwarding the article below. I have been trying for months to persuade my husband to be more aware of kitchen sanitation. Yes, I have been a nag! Especially when he cuts raw meat, neglects to wash his hands afterward, and then touches knobs, countertops, etc. with fingers wet with meat juice. The last week or two I have been asking (praying) to the "Universe" for help. And then -- there was your email -- thank you for following your divine inspiration to send it.

When mad cow disease was discovered in Washington state recently, it made headlines for days and brought action from the federal government. Coupled with a number of E. coli scares, it led some Americans to swear off hamburger.

But most people don't seem to worry about what experts say is a petri dish for food-borne illness: the home kitchen.

"Everybody is so acutely aware of mad cow disease," said Janet Anderson, a clinical associate professor of nutrition and food sciences at Utah State University, "but people aren't aware of the fact that they don't even wash their hands when they enter their kitchens, which is a much greater risk. "

Anderson filmed more than 100 people preparing dinner and found that only two did not cross-contaminate raw meat with fresh vegetables.

It is not only people's hands, though. Dish towels, sinks, refrigerator door handIes and warm, moist, crevice-filled sponges are also breeding grounds for bacteria.

"A sponge that's been in use for no more than two or three days in a kitchen Will harbor millions of bacteria, " said Elizabeth Scott, co-director of the Simmons Center for Hygiene and Health in the Home at Simmons College in Boston. 'That means that any time you use the sponge to wipe up a surface, you are potentially spreading those pathogens."

Pathogens such as E. coli, salmonella and campylobacter are a potential problem mainly for infants, the elderly ill and people with compromised immune systems. But when allowed to multiply on food, they can make the average person sick.

"The basic reality is that the risks that scare people and the risks that kill people are very different," said Dr. Peter M. Sandman, a risk communication consultant in Princeton, NJ.

"Risks that you control are much less a source of outrage than risks that are out of your control," Sandman said. "In the case of mad cow, it feels like it's beyond my control. I can't tell if my meat has prions in it or not. I can't see it, I can't smell it. Whereas dirt in my own kitchen is very much in my own control. I can clean my sponges. I can clean the floor."

Dread is another factor, Sandman said.

People can deal with sick stomachs, but they absolutely dread the idea of rotting brains.

Fair enough, except that many of the estimated 76-million cases of food-borne illnesses in the United States each year are contracted in the home, and many can be prevented.

Dean Cliver, a professor of food safety at the University of California, Davis, found that microwaving sponges -cellulose ones, not the natural kind - wipes out harmful bacteria.

"We did soak sponges in some pretty bad things," he said, "and one minute in the nuke and that pretty much did it "

Dishcloths also become saturated with bacteria, although since they dry more quickly than sponges, bacteria are less likely to breed. They can be microwaved, too, or simply laundered regularly.

Cliver's other notable discovery involved cutting boards. "Somewhere along the line," he said, "wood got a bad name."

Part of the blame, Cliver said, must go to the rubber industry, which assailed wooden cutting boards in order to promote hard rubber and I plastic.

In recent years, it has become conventional wisdom that plastic cutting boards are safer and , easier to clean than wooden cutting boards. Even the Food and Drug Administration says that plastic is less likely to harbor bacteria and is easier to clean.

In a study, however, Cliver found that cellulose in " wood absorbs bacteria but will not release it. "We've never been able to get the bacteria down in the wood back up on the knife to contaminate food later," he said.

Plastic absorbs bacteria in a different way: "When a knife cuts into the plastic surface, little cracks radiate out from the cut, " Cliver said. The bacteria, he said, "seem to get down in those knife cuts and they hang out. They go dormant. Drying will kill, say, 90 percent of them, but the rest could hang around for weeks.

"In one test, raw chicken juices were spread on samples of used wooden and plastic cutting boards. Both boards were washed in hot soapy water and dried, then knives were used to simulate cutting vegetables for a salad. No bacteria appeared on the knives that cut on wood, but there were plenty on the knives used on a plastic board.

Cliver found that running plastic boards through , the dishwasher only spread the bacteria around. The bacteria in the cracks remained. He said that the water in dishwashers must get hotter than 140 degrees or an sorts of bacteria can survive.

Wood cutting boards may be microwaved for five minutes, but Cliver warned that some of the boards , contain metal pieces within. "Some people who dried their boards in the microwave had some spectacular fireworks," he said.

Even with clean sponges and cutting boards, no one's kitchen will ever be germ-free because the food supply is not sterile. In 1998, Consumer Reports found that 71 percent of store-bought chicken contained harmful bacteria.

Most bacteria in food can be killed if the food is cooked properly. But much of the harm happens before the food gets near the oven.

In an experiment, Anderson of Utah State and her colleagues covered a chicken with a product called Glo Germ, which is visible under ultraviolet light The chicken was given to a home cook, who was asked to prepare it By the time the chicken was done, Anderson said, the light revealed chicken juices everywhere on the counter, in the sink, on cabinet handles, even on the sippy cup of the cook's 2-year-old child.

Chuck Gerba, a professor of environmental microbiology at the University of Arizona, who has studied bacteria in home kitchens, said he found that people with the cleanest-looldng kitchens were often the dirtiest

Because "clean" people wipe up so much, they, often end up spreading bacteria all over the place. The cleanest kitchens, he said, were in the homes of bachelors, who never wiped up and just put their dirty dishes in the sink.

The biggest obstacle seems to be simply getting people to wash their hands. Anderson found that only 34 percent of her subjects washed their hands before cooking, and most failed to use soap. Washing hands in hot soapy water for at least 20 seconds rinses off surface bacteria and makes it difficult for bacteria to cling to skin.

The less bacteria you pick up, the less likely you will fall ill. Getting people to change their habits, however, is a big mountain to climb.

The truth is, as Sandman pointed out, bacteria in the home kitchen is simply not mysterious or weird enough. To respond to it, you have to do something very banal: Wash your hands. And that's just not as compelling as taking a dramatic stand and halting beef consumption in the face of a brain-rotting disease.

Regularly launder dish towels.

Make sure tap water (and thus, the dishwasher) can exceed 140 degrees.

Prepare raw meats and vegetables on separate work surfaces.

Wash the meat thermometer after each use.

Wash refrigerator door handles, cabinet knobs and work surfaces.

Fill the sink with hot soapy water and drop in utensils after using them. Change the water often.

Fully disassemble your blender before putting it in the dishwasher.

Wash the sink's drain plug and scrub the sink before washing produce in it.

Hi everyone,

Here's an odd question that nobody can seem to answer, including my
doctor:
What if someone has hypothyroidism, meaning a high TSH (21) and high
antibodies (1000) but feels great?

About 2 months into treatment with Thyrolar (a half grain), I began
to feel a clarity of mind and a lifting of the depression that had
dogged me during my 10 years on Synthroid. This was one year ago, and
I feel better than ever, despite having the worst TSH/antibody levels
in the history of my hypothyroidism. Of course I do take very good
care of myself with an organic, whole-foods diet, a yoga practice,
and a pretty stress-free life. Yet I am still baffled at why I feel,
frankly, good. Is there something I should be worried about? Do I
need the Clark technique?

I have a personal story I want to share with everyone. I think you be
moved by it.

About 8 months ago my friend Jen, who is a diabetic, went into the
hospital because her blood sugar was out of control. She was having

Who knows about the mercury question? I have had 3 urine collections. Two were
done following  a chelating agent given IV and showed
lots of mercury. One was collected after NO chelating agent and showed no
mercury. My doctor prefers to accept the
no-chelator/no-mercury method.
Also, on an MRI, can the indicators of MS look similar to mercury deposits.? Or
does mercury even show up on an MRI?

Does it occur to you that a fact is a claim that can be substantiated. Please
supply the scientific evidence to support your case. Don' t forget though that
you will need a large sample size probably over 100 to make sure that the
results cannot be considered chance. You will need to take a full medical and
life style history from these people and then you will need to have flushed
stones from all these people tested, including the calcified ones that people
like myself have passed. Then and only then will you be able to substantiate
your claim.

Oh and by the way, the majority of stones that I have passed have been rock
hard or calcified. As someone with a keen interest in science, please explain
how calcification of bile salts and olive oil can take place in 12 hours. I
would be most interested!

Well, I feel like I have been doing this cleanse thing for years even though
you wonderful, "God Sent" people came into my life only a couple of months ago.
I began last night with my Epsom Salt mixture and I have learned something else
about this awful tasting mixture. My 4th flush I added lemon to the water and
epsom salt and it took the bitterness out. This time, I drank it at room
temperature instead of letting it get ice cold. That helped the taste, too.
But, listen to my new idea! While allowing the salt mixture to work, I planned
a "just for me" evening. I lit candles,did a facial, took a long bath, played
my kind of music (for me, it's Bob Seager, Fleetwood Mac, Barry White and who
could ever forget, Michael McDonald!!!) I loved last night. It was just for
me!! At 10, I took the Olive Oil/Grapefruit Juice. This time, however, I added
another lemon and it helped the taste. I then went to sleep and NEVER woke up.
What a change from my 1st liver cleanse!! I was up and down that night long
passing all kinds of "stuff." (I will never forget that LONG, green rope I
passed that night! It scared me to death!) This morning, I took the remaining
two doses of Epsom Salt and two hours later, I am now passing the "greenest"
green gallstones I have ever seen. If there is such a thing as a "fresh
gallstone," I would describe it that way. I am assuming these are freshly made
and they sailed right on through. My last two cleanses were a lot of big black,

But, more than that, it's my inward calmness I really have never experienced

doesn't want to function. It's my mytral valve and it will race when I feel
stress. Guess what---I have not felt that "race feeling" in weeks now. Too

I also have a funny feeling when I am in public. It's kinda a "I know something
you don't know" feeling. I now know one of the best kept secrets to make me
feel better, look better and just be a healthier person!!!! I share this with

I have just finished my 5th flush and oh my what a difference, after my 4th
which I didnt pass many stones, I felt the pressure rise and my shoulder
and right arm hurt a great deal so I knew I needed to flush again, what was
even more strange was that my ankles had started to swell and I just felt
lousy. I finished a bowel cleanse so I felt to do it again, and I passed a
11/2 inch calcified stone which I felt a bit when it was leaving the duct
as a some pain and a wave of nausea. I then passed another one just a bit
smaller and then hundreds of small pea size ones in tan and green.
Interestingly my ankles are normal again and my shoulder doesnt hurt. The
pressure is gone for now but that has happened before and then it comes
back but I would estimate that I have passed around 1000 stones now. I
slept better after this one than I have for the others and maybe that is
why I was able to pass so many. I guess I will be keeping on doing this. I
am amazed at the size of that last stone. I have never had gallbladder

Gloria,

I am happy to tell you about bioresonance. I have had absolutely no
back/shoulder/muscle pain since the 3rd appointment. It is very
expensive though - from $50 (California) to $90 (Sarasota) an hour.
The clinic I went to believes Fibromyalgia is caused by parasites.
Everything (chemicals, bacteria, viruses, herbs, organs, etc.) has a
frequency. They put in the reverse frequency and it cancels out the
problem. For me this was the best answer because I had so many
problems. I was dealing with hormone problems, thyroid problems,
insomnia, bacteria, teeth problems, acne, toxins, sensitivity
problems, and allergies. My immune system was shot. Each treatment I
go to addresses multiple issues. However, if a person just has
fibromyalgia, perhaps getting rid of parasites would take care of the
whole thing, I don't know.

The zappers seem great, but I've heard mixed reports on how well they
work. One reason may be there are several different kinds of
parasites. I'm not sure that these little zappers have enough range
to get rid of all the different types. But they may, I really don't
know. I first used a little zapper which didn't take care of my
acne problem, but that was years ago and I don't remember if I had
fibro symptoms then. (I have had so many problems for so many years,
I can't remember when various symptoms started. It took me about 8
years to get diagnosed with various disorders). However, last year I
used Bob Beck's black box and it did seem to help relieve the muscle
aches. (I still didn't know I had fibro then. I found out around May
of this year.) What I did find out was these devices were helping
me. But not curing me. They would take care of some symptoms but not
all and the minute I stopped, the symptoms would come back. That's
one reason why the bioresonance is good - it looks at the whole body
and addresses the root problem. But it is expensive and I have the
same problem as you - not much cash. I have invested money into it
because I was desperate to get well. I couldn't see living the rest
of my life disabled. I had tried almost everything by then. What
worries me only is if I will have to go back frequently. The clinic
says it depends on the person. For example some people only need a
tune-up every 6 months. Others more often. They identify stressors
on each individual's system. For me, elf elm, hair color, cell phone
radiation, cleaning chemicals and a few other things stress my system.
If I balance my hormones, eliminate or reduce the above stressors, I
may not need to keep going. They say it's like a scale. Clearing
even one or two things may tip the balance and give your immune system
the strength to become strong again. Each one is an individual and
some people may have to eliminate more things. So I am hopeful that
by clearing these items and adding in better food along with
strengthening things like yoga that will be all I need.

the candida has been very stubborn. They said the composites in my
teeth were toxic to my system. They did try to treat it and we will
see how that goes. I may need to get NAET to treat these, I am
checking into this.

Hello, again,

I joined this group to find information to improve my health and to
share what has helped me.

Thanks for the information on products and water filters. I will tell
people my story and what has really taken away all my fibromyalgia
pain.

Several years ago I stopped sleeping. I am married to a man with ADD
and we had 2 boys with ADD. Our family was a mess. This kids left
everything all over the place and my attempts to teach them were not
supported by my husband because he "understood" how difficult it was
for them. My husband earned the living and I did everything else.
As the boys got older my husband decided I should get a job and
also help pay the bills. I wanted to get a good job and decided
to go to graduate school first. This worked for a while, but
eventually I got overwhelmed and couldn't seem to keep up. This was a
period of high stress for me. When I stopped sleeping I went to my dr
who asked me if I had much stress in my life. Of course I said yes,
explaining my situation. Well that explains your insomnia and he gave
me sleeping pills. You will sleep when your stress calms down. He's
the dr so I accepted this.

This went on for 7 years. Over the years I saw several different drs.
and got the same response. Over the years, my health continued to
decline. Somehow I managed to graduate, but instead of going to work
I collapsed. At this point my oldest son had moved out, I no longer
had the stress of school, yet I finally had to face the fact that it
was more than stress that was causing my problems which by now had
multiplied to include teeth grinding, severe aches, EXTREME
light sensitivity, undeniable brain fog, exhaustion, weight gain,
acne, hair loss, and my old nemesis, insomnia.

Over the years I had changed drs. pleaded for help, tests, answers and
always got the same thing: its just stress and try this pill. I had
been through so many anti depressants they decided to try some heavy
hitters: lithium for manic depression, then zyprexa, a major
tranquilizer. I decided then that drs were not helping me and if I
was going to find an answer it would have to be on my own. So I tried
a lot of alternative stuff: Bob Beck's black box, the zapper,
vitamins, minerals, herbs, amino acids, special formulas, light sound
machine, biofeedback, sleep cds, electo acupuncture, magnets. All of
this stuff helped me. Nothing fixed me.

A good friend (psychologist) told me he was sure I didn't have manic
depression. He said that was the disease du jour and he thought I had
hypothyroid. I finally went to see a a couple of expensive
specialists and demanded testing for and got diagnosed with
fibromyalgia and hypothyroidism. And I got drugs. I tried these
drugs for a while, but my body just wasn't responding. Deep inside I
felt there was a better answer than drugs.

Then I found bio resonance and energy medicine. I had to drive 2
hours to a clinic that used electic frequencies to kill parasites.
The man in charge had fibromyalgia and used the bio resonance to fix
himself. He learned from a man who had used it to cure his cancer.
One session, I was better. Third session and it was gone. In
addition they treated bacteria problems, hormones, digestion, and I
found some of the roots of my problems. To keep the immune system
strong you have to work on the roots. Stress had caused hormone
imbalances, something my drs. wouldn't test me for because I didn't
meet the "standards of care." (I wasn't old enough for the insurance
to cover the test.) I am very sensitive to chemicals and need to use
purer products. I am also sensitve to cell phones and ELF ELM or the
electrical interference from telephone and electric lines, electro
magnetic fields, etc.

Am I totally healed? No, I still have some thyroid problems,
sensitivity to light, and am on a slow taper to get off the sleeping
pill that the dr. gave me. Despite the rebound insomnia from that, I
am sleeping better than before, but still not great. But I have been
going out a little bit. I actually have started grocery shopping
again! No, and I mean NO aches and pains in my back, shoulders and
neck, the worst places for me. NONE - a miracle in itself. Candida is
gone for the first time in all my life.

I know this type of cure may stretch some of your thinking. I want to
say this is my story and it helped me.

Here is my message posted a few days after my third liver clense:

Apart from my successes after three clenses (my thyroid gland reduced in
shape, skin looks better, body weight is slightly reducing, addiction to
"bad" food is gone), my friend (also 25 year old girl)has no insomnia any
more, before she had problems falling asleep if there was any slightest noise.

Now it is about three weeks after that and I still get the results:

I tend to wake up half an hour before my alarm, lately. I lost my all
excess of weight (did not have too much of it though - 3 kg or so)and I
don't seem like gaining it soon. Before I could keep my best weight only

Good News!

My best friend at work has had cancer for over a year and was taking
progressively stronger and stronger doses of chemo, but the cancer
kept growing while he was getting very sick from the chemo side
effects.  Eventually he quit taking the chemo, as it wasn't working
and was just making him very sick.

I gave him a copy of the complete Beck protocol notes and a copy of
the Hulda Clark book , Cure for All Cancers.  I also loaned him my
Clark Zapper and my Beck Blood Electrifier zapper and my Beck
Magnetic Pulser.  I got the Beck devices from Sota.  He already knew
about the colloidal silver, but wasn't taking it every day.  I
recommended that he drink some c.s. every day and add a liquid
oxygen supplement to his drinking water.

He has been doing all these things per the Beck 4 part protocol plus
zapping every day with the Clark zapper.  He purchased a Clark
zapper and water alkalizer from Kallie and has been drinking
alkaline water with added oxygen.  He has also been drinking a
herbal detox tea every day.  He has quit taking the chemo and
started doing all these alternative healing things for about 2 � 3
weeks now.

Today he came in to work and told me that the zapping and cleanses
have been pulling a bunch of junk out every day, and this morning
when he got up and went to the bathroom he passed a very large
quantity of dead parasites.  Apparently all the dead parasites were
killed by the two zappers and the magnetic pulser.  This is the
first person that I have known personally to have this happen and
tell me about it first hand.  I have known others who dumped a load
of parasites after the Hulda Clark parasite treatment with Walnut
hull tincture, cloves and wormwood, but this is the first time I
heard of it from just zapping.

He also told me that he feels much better now and has much more
energy.  He is also diabetic and has been able to cut way down on
the amount of insulin he needs each day.  His depression is gone and
he now has a good overall attitude.  And he is able to work 8 hours
a day again.  He is a happy guy now!

Yes, I did! But it is not an overnight cure all. When I was in my early
20's I quit getting new amalgam. I still had a mouth full but simply started
getting new cavities and failed amalgom replaced with white. I probably did 3
or 4 that year. After about a year my constant low grade nausea, lack of
energy and frequent depressions started to lift. After four years and with
even less in my mouth I felt better than I had since I was a child. By then I
had two small children and worked full time, something I could never have
done when I was younger. I didn't finish getting the last one out until last
year, like an idiot. Towards the end I didn't notice much difference, but
since having all 6 toxic crowns removed (yes mercury was found under a couple
even though I had instucted dentists to clean it all up) and replaced with
plastic's I noticed a big difference again. No constant back aches and just
a general sense of well being. Just had 3 root canal teeth (which research
shows are more toxic than amalgom) removed and hope to feel even better. My
main problems over the years have been headaches and fibromialgia. The fibro
is totally gone, the headaches are lessoning. Diet, exercise and drinking a
lot of pure water also has a lot to do with chronic lack of energy ...
