Having read about the theory that these things are just a by-product
of the oil and magnesium salt I was naturally very sceptical.

But then looking at these funny shaped lumps, I have to admit that
every instinct and piece of common sense in me screams out that such
things don't easily get made in a few hours out of olive oil!

The best description I can think of is that they're like pieces of
dark green candle wax which can be squashed between the fingers and
stick to the skin just like wax. They even smell similar to candle
wax!

Can the digestive tract really convert yellow olive oil into dark
green "wax" in just over 6 hours?

What is also interesting is that they're not all identical, some are
brown or tan on the outside and some are less waxy than others.
