from Nancy Schimelpfening Researchers are finding that good relationships with family and significant others in your life can have a profound influence upon your depression. In a study recently published, marriage was found to be beneficial to depression. Poor relationships with siblings was found to increase male depression. In addition, teen girls who had been abused by boyfriends and teen boys who were sexually abused were more prone to suicide attempts. Clearly a lack of support from important others in your life and abusive treatment can have a strong impact on your mental health.
