Re: testing

Hi Rebecca,

I am very interested in the reading program you describe. My son finished Dore
about 1 1/2 years ago, during his freshman year in college. When he first
finished, he thought it helped, but this year has been extremely difficult for
him--both getting his work done on time, and particularly reading. His work is
very good, but he's almost always behind, he continues to procrastinate, he
often has trouble following what's going on in class discussions, and he can
never finish his reading.

We all realize that college reading is different from reading a novel, but it's
really agony for him. He's very slow and he has a hard time skimming for
information. I notice that he doesn't even read easy things like emails (mine,
of course!)or short articles. Writing is also very difficult. He's actually an
excellent writer, but it takes him a very long time to put his thoughts together
(once he gets himself to start, that is).

I'm very happy to read that Dore is helping school-aged students, but what about
college students, who have different needs and who then need to apply their
college skills to the working world? My son is really hard on himself, which
makes it doubly stressful on him. A good reading program might help, but I'm not
sure the improvements that seemed to have happened with Dore have been retained.
In fact, they seem to have fled.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jane Gould

Feel free to phone me to discuss further. I am pretty sure your unit only has
the 5 protocols but how you check is if your unit has 2 different optimal
proformance protools. I believe it say optimal proformance I and optimal
profromance II.

top of the paramid meaning when you are done with Dore and listening then you
would want to try it. I can't wait to start my son on it and see how he does.
It was really amazing to see how bad I did on the testing. Since Dore and
listening I can read better but I still hate it. In this testing it tracks how
you read and where your eyes go if you skip around, if you read and re-read a
line and how long you fixate on each word.

Rebecca, Thank you for your reply. Since Hallowell doesn't take any kind of insurance we cannot afford to have our son tested. I would like you to look on...

A few of the things you mentioned like trouble following class discussion  sounds like he has some auditory processing problems. Remember the vestibular...
