You know I am really glad you posted now too.  It's made me notice some very good things about my son lately.

Because we are right there with you; it is getting SO difficult to stick with it - for me and my son.  There have been a couple days lately where I've remembered we needed to do exercises, but just couldn't make myself get started.

We've been on Dore for a year (and 2 weeks).  We were very consistent in the beginning and my son got his mental exercises in May - right before the doors closed.  So while we've been doing the exercises, we haven't had a single assessment while on mentals; I have no idea where he started, so even when he does get assessed, we won't know how much (or litlle) progress he's made.  We're in California so there are no centers nearby and a trip to the East Coast just isn't in the budget right now.

But, you know what, just tonight I had stop and realize that all of a sudden, my son - 14yrs, 8th grader - has taken total ownership of his school work.  He handles all of his homework on his own and just did a big history project where he scored 164/140 (24 points in extra credit - that I didn't even know he did!)  At this moment, he has As in everything but Algebra where he has a C (maybe when that grade goes up I'll know we're done, LOL!)

Tomorrow when he moans and complains about his exercises, I'm going to have to remind him of what is accomplishing. ... in addition to his grades, he also made the all-league, all-star team in water polo and got the school's "champion" award for being a good student and good citizen as well as good athlete (that was a really big deal).

Wow... seeing that written in one place; how could I NOT have realized the difference Dore is making!?!  I do believe I'm rejuvenated for tomorrow!!

Thanks Kim for posting!!

Is anyone besides Rebecca still out there? It is a real downer that
this group does not seem to be up and running with the communication
and support everyone on the DORE program could truly use.

My daughter is 9 years old and has been on the program sincee the end
of February 2008. This means she has been on the program for almost
10 months. I have seen some wonderful changes but not as much in the
ADHD/Anxiety aspect as I had hoped for. She is getting to the point
she absolutely hates doing DORE each day. The excersizes are getting
a bit lengthier since it is harder now. We are in the final stages
for excersizes and hopefully will move into the mental excersizes
after next evaluation at the end of this month.

My daughter is making it much more difficult now to do the excersizes
since she gives both my husband and myself a very hard time when it
is time to do them. She is sick of them and have to say my husband
and I are at are wits end as well.

We are blessed the center we work with had re-opened and able to
continue her evals etc. Yes, I know there are others who have not
been able to get back to evals which I truly empathize with. The
children and parents who have been fortunate to have thier centers
reopen still need the support of others going through the program.

Does anyone have any success/rough pathc stories with thier children
with ADHD and maybe even the Anxiety? We are diligent with the
excersizes doing them every day. We may miss one or two excersizes
during the course of 7 weeks which is not bad at all.

Please let me know others are out there still doing the DORE program
that can share any feedback.

Thanks,

Kim
