Re: [DoreProgram] Re:Anyone Out There Still On Dore?
If he has just started a higher level of exercise or mental tasks it could well be a "reconstruction"that is making him crabby. This sometimes creates a little "regression"or backward step, as the new tasks challenge the brain which in turn cannot yet do as good a job at executing them. Soon he will be an expert at these and then it will get easier. Just remind him 6 or 12 more weeks at the most if he is on mental tasks and he should be done. Then no more Dore and he can enjoy the well deserved reward of new pathways and perhaps something special you have planned for the finish. Many people go on to other "trainings" of sorts with confidence after Dore. They figure, we did Dore anything else is easy. Olga
PS-moms or other helpers should also plan something celebratory for themselves when you finish. Don't forget yourself. You have done a great thing in coaching this child through this program. Give yourself something good. You deserve it!

I was just thinking about all of you and am so glad to read that we are still a group -- of sorts. My almost 14 year old son is in his 16th month of Dore and we've had two checkups at the Hallowell center since the business reorganization. We, too, are going through a very difficult period of him not wanting to do the exercises, feeling that it's futile, and general kvetching. I pointed out to him his great progress and that we are so close...why quit now, etc. As he is a cross country runner, he'll probably pay attention to Olga's marathon analogy -- thanks! Just the other day we were discussing his opposition to the exercises and he responded, "Must be a regression, Mom!" I had to laugh at how he'd caught on to the lingo. When do we know when to stop? I've told him we will be dedicated to this through February (which will bring us to the 18 month mark), but hate to quit before we've
really finished it. Suggestions anyone? Blessings to you all -- remember the way things were with your child and how far you've come. Anne
Is anyone besides Rebecca still out there? It is a real downer that this group does not seem to be up and running with the communication and support everyone...
DoreTalk is still active Kim, and funnily enough there is a recent posting about this very question. http://doretalk.com/forums/p/1185/6367.aspx#6367 Chris....
The end is the hardest part since there is the tedium factor. But you knew this was a marathon when you started. It helped me to use the analogy of the...

Still here, not Doring anymore though. What you are describing is exactly what we went through with our son. He was HORRIBLE about doing his exercises, but we...

Thanks so much everyone for your advice! We will be sure to keep plugging. I love Olga's analogy of the different stages of a race! It is so true and that is...
Hi Kim, Yes, we are also still doing Dore. It will probably kill me but I still have My daughter do it everyday, and it is never easy. We also just ordered The...

One thought I had re-reading about the difficulty after starting mental tasks...and the one response that it may be because it is new and harder. I don't know...
Sometimes mental tasks are given and the person isn't quite ready. So we do a trial with mental tasks and if its difficult that's OK. Most people find it so...
