The end is the hardest part since there is the tedium factor. But you knew this was a marathon when you started. It helped me to use the analogy of the marathon when I was on the program. A marathoner will run 26 miles to finish. 22 of those miles he runs on training. The next two miles he uses the last of his glucose and then it gets painful. The last two miles are run on shear will. He or she has come this far and by golly they are not going to throw all that away. They will finish. The laurel does not go to the one who stops short with the finish in sight. You have got to remind your daughter that she has done an amazing thing coming this far. She doesn't want to throw that all away when she only has 6 to 12 weeks to do. Talk to her about how you can make it fun. Talk about what you will do with the time you do not have to do exercises. Talk about
what you have accomplished and how others do so much more to just look thin (hours a day in a gym). Whatever you do be positive. Negativity is contageous. Set small goals and rewards along the way. (when we do the next two weeks we will go to or do such and such to celebrate. YOU CAN DO IT!!!! The worst is over. Don't skimp on the mental tasks. They are hard but they have a lot of benefit in themselves. What are you made of? This will test it. But you will find you are made of good stuff when its over and you will be proud of a job well done. DON'T GIVE UP!!! Olga

Is anyone besides Rebecca still out there? It is a real downer that this group does not seem to be up and running with the communication and support everyone on the DORE program could truly use.
My daughter is 9 years old and has been on the program sincee the end of February 2008. This means she has been on the program for almost 10 months. I have seen some wonderful changes but not as much in the ADHD/Anxiety aspect as I had hoped for. She is getting to the point she absolutely hates doing DORE each day. The excersizes are getting a bit lengthier since it is harder now. We are in the final stages for excersizes and hopefully will move into the mental excersizes after next evaluation at the end of this month.
My daughter is making it much more difficult now to do the excersizes since she gives both my husband and myself a very hard time when it is time to do them. She is sick of them and
have to say my husband and I are at are wits end as well.
We are blessed the center we work with had re-opened and able to continue her evals etc. Yes, I know there are others who have not been able to get back to evals which I truly empathize with. The children and parents who have been fortunate to have thier centers reopen still need the support of others going through the program.
Does anyone have any success/rough pathc stories with thier children with ADHD and maybe even the Anxiety? We are diligent with the excersizes doing them every day. We may miss one or two excersizes during the course of 7 weeks which is not bad at all.
Please let me know others are out there still doing the DORE program that can share any feedback.

Still here, not Doring anymore though. What you are describing is exactly what we went through with our son. He was HORRIBLE about doing his exercises, but we...

This is the first time I have posted I think. I read the posts some before we finished with the program this March 2008, but since then I have not been...
I was just thinking about all of you and am so glad to read that we are still a group -- of sorts. My almost 14 year old son is in his 16th month of Dore and...
If he has just started a higher level of exercise or mental tasks it could well be a "reconstruction"that is making him crabby. This sometimes creates a little...

Hi Kim, Yes, we are also still doing Dore. It will probably kill me but I still have My daughter do it everyday, and it is never easy. We also just ordered The...

One thought I had re-reading about the difficulty after starting mental tasks...and the one response that it may be because it is new and harder. I don't know...
Sometimes mental tasks are given and the person isn't quite ready. So we do a trial with mental tasks and if its difficult that's OK. Most people find it so...
