This support group is being offered to those people who have been diagnosed with any of the dissociative disorders such as DID, dissociative amnesia, dissociative fugue, etc. Dissociation can be defined on a continuum. On one end try to imagine yourself driving down the highway. Suddenly you have arrived at your destination but you cannot recall how you got there. You went through several traffic lights but you don't even recall whether the lights were red or green or how you made it to your destination. This is a form of mild dissociation and everyone does this. Continuing along this spectrum you can find yourself being very forgetful quite often. On the opposite end you would find dissociation defined as multiplicity which is now known as DID (Dissociative Identity Disorder). DID is not an illness nor is it a disease. The individuals that have been diagnosed with this disorder are not crazy. They are survivors of severe childhood trauma and the long-term effects have caused these individuals problems on how to process current information and react to everyday life. Anyone looking for info for projects, surveys, or is NOT legitmately DID, Dissociative Amnesia or Dissociative Fugue (or believe they are but are not diagnosed yet) are not welcome.
