Welcome to Diabetic-Friends2, Auntie Susie's home on the 'Net. Our online group is comprised of people with diabetes, their friends and family, meeting for friendship, encouragement, shared knowledge, and mutual support.

Each person on this list is required to be consulting a physician about his/her disease. This list is NOT a substitute for the guidance of a personal physician.

This is NOT A DIET GROUP! We are all looking for good, healthy ways to control our diabetes. Towards that end we discuss, along with other topics, various eating programs and share information. As in all decisions that involve our health, any way of eating is to be undertaken only after first consulting with your physician and/or certified dietitian.

TOPICS NOT ALLOWED ARE: 1) the discussion of diets for the sake of weight loss; and 2) weight loss surgery (WLS) as a way to lose weight or to "cure" diabetes.

The List FOCUS is learning to live as healthy diabetics. We discuss many topics, such as learning how to eat healthily while controlling our blood glucose levels, and our lives. There are many people on this list who are weight loss surgery survivors, or diet wars survivors, who have dieted their way up the scale. We want this list to be as comfortable for them as for those who are actively involved in the process of weight loss dieting. So, while OFF-LIST, you may discuss dieting for weight loss, but REFRAIN FROM ANY SUCH DISCUSSION ON-LIST.

This is not an "ON TOPIC ONLY" list. We discuss ALL phases of our lives, because we truly believe that we are more than our diagnosis of diabetes! We are people with full and interesting lives who happen to have diabetes. We welcome all that are comfortable within these guidelines.

There is no minimum participation requirement, however, we do REQUIRE that new members introduce themselves within 15 days of joining. It is only fair that we get to know who is sitting in Auntie Susie's living room with us.
