Re: [Dercums_Disease] re where is everyone

Sometimes it helps to fax a copy of Dercum's information to the doctor to read before going that way you can discuss it with the doctor when you get there.I found if you sit down and explain how your feeling and why you feel you have this disease and right from that start let them know that this is something your serious about and feel strongly by what you read, researched and that you were looking for answers for your symptoms and this seems to be it. I hope you word it better than I do. there are very nice and very receptive physicians out there want to help there patients so please do not get discourage if a doctor just dismisses you find another. I am glad you are able to turn here for support.Since having a lipoma removed month or so ago on the side of my kneeI have had no pain in the area. I stopped wearing a brace I need to help the pain, and I stopped limping it is amazing the difference when for months I called the doctors, went for tests, and begged the dermatologist to remove the lipoma and she did. it was smaller than my finger nail. if you judged me by my pain you would have thought the lipoma was huge but it was actually lipomatosis not a lipoma. I am not looking forward to anymore growing back. I have a date Dec 1st to have anymore that pops up before then. I am hoping to have the ones on my inner thighs removed. well keep on posting and let us know how you are doing! E

Thank you for answering my post. It helps to know that all of you know how I feel. The doctor I saw yesterday is not my PCP. I had changed doctors and can't see him tell Dec. 11th. The doctor I saw was very nice. He had never heard of dercum's. He asked questions and saw my lipomas. I asked if he could up the dose of my Neurontin because my pain is getting worse. I take 600 mg. 3 times a day. He said to cut a tablet in half and take one tablet and a half at bed time. He asked if I ever was told I should go to a pain clinic. We said no. I always have my husband go with me when I see the doctor. The doctor made an appointment for me at the pain clinic. They should call me within 2 to 3 weeks.
I have taken Naproxen 500 mg tablets but it made my blood pressure go up so I quit taking it.
I take Alprazolam for anxiety. Some pain meds make me sick.
I started getting lipomas in my late forties.
