I do have swelling in my legs, I was told to wear 25mmhz stockings poor circulation and lipedema but it was the surgeon who told me it was lipomas, and that the lipomatosis everywhere. I can feel the hardened it feels like a ball of fat with strings of hard nodules and lipoma wrapped around that is the best way to describe it. I am running on lack of sleep and busy chaotic work situation since several are on vacation replacements don't want to work or have OCD including the doctor I work for. Elaine
Elaine, what you are describing to me sounds like lipedema. I too thought it was Dercum's, the long chains and strings on my thighs and arms. You might want to check into lipedema, and see if it is something that fits you, a lot of who have DD have also been diagnosed with liepedema.

it is daily strength, my journal is there. i am curious, now my dercum's is lipomas but i have type 3 lipomatosis and my surgeon will not remove them because i have long chain, and strings of them that go across my nerves, in the thighs around them on top which will leave nasty scars and reappear i have lipomas surrounded by these which can be hard and painful and you can't see them but you can feel them. it makes it difficult to move or take out. it is the type that can occur in non obese patients, does that differ from the type all of you have? they occur in different parts of the body. i want to understand the different types
I signed up to daily strength, it is a Dercum's Support group, I have referred them to Dr. Herbst regarding information on Dercum's. you might want to go to American pain foundation and sign the petion so our medications regarding opiods is not taken away because some people abuse it. all you have to do is give a comment if you want and sign your name they have collected over 4,ooo in six days. I also started a discussion on dercum's treatments on daily strength where others with dercum's can list there treatments for other members just being diagnosed with this disease. please send me a list of your treatments.
