RE: [Dercums_Disease] Antibody readings..........

Hi again,…….I am stumped about this blood test. My husband has a really high ANA, and he was told it might be Lupus [his sister has it], but then again, a high ANA can mean nothing too. Many people in family’s will test high if another member has a illness like Lupus, but they don’t necessarily will have it too even tho their antibodies are elevated. He sure has all the symptoms of Lupus, or RA. I guess they need other tests to go along with the ANA, to conclude if you have Lupus.

I agree about how come there aren’t many Dr.’s who aren’t more curious. Ones that will go the extra mile. We are in search of a Dr. for my hubby now because of his high ANA, and how bad he hurts all over. AND…….now he has painful lumps too. Seems like after being married 34 years we surely are becoming one!! Lol….too bad its with “illnesses”! He has FM now too. It makes you wonder about the “viral” theory causing all the autoimmune diseases. And maybe its contagious too?

Just thinking out loud……

Smiles, Jackie [oregon, USA]

Subject: [Dercums_Disease] Antibody readings..........

Hi everyone,

I am still pondering my antibody results from last week. If the
second test rules out the first and positive test for Lupus, I can
accept that I do not have Lupus (thank goodness! - I really do not
need that as well).

However, that still means that one test has persistently come back as
positive for some years now. Although it is a test which is
relatively specific to Lupus, it has also shown to be positive in
some forms for Rheumatoid Arthritis. So how come my Rheum has ruled
out that possibility without any further form of testing? I do not
understand that some Doctors do not seem to have the innate form of
curiosity that we all show here??? If I was a Doctor and I had a
patient who showed positive antibodies for 6 years and was
complaining of persistent pain in bone then I would certainly want to
rule out any possibility of something as destructive as Rheumatoid
Arthritis or Ankylosing Spondilitis.

Has anbody else had this positive antibody thing investigated
properly?

Cynthia

It is most likely that the spouse doesn't even have Dercum's. Many disorders can cause painful lumps. Even if it is lipoma, most painful lipomas are not due to...
