Well soak your dentures with water only put some denture tablets on
it I think polident has lots of it and efferdent too. dentu-creme
works good and so the fresh n' brite of efferdent both are good
denture cleaners.. you should try both.. :)

....how do these work as far as "clicking" the dentures IN and wearing
them long-term?
I am considering dentures myself. The cost involved in keeping
my "regular" teeth has become WAY out-of-hand. They want almost 5
grand to "fix" my mouth with NO guarantees that I will not be doing
the SAME in another 10 years or so. OR I might have to go to dentures
THEN...... LOL
I say to myself......WHY not now ? ....... THX for any help or
insight. .... Eric
yeah. i mostly eat cereals and grinded bananas coz i need some
potassium in my diet.how bout denture cleaners do you use like
polident? and is it effective?

Good story well had you used any adhesives? seems like your dentist
made a good job doing your dentures. My upper denture is kinda loose
and im using poligrip for some time now. My dentist said that it is
only normal for first timers so I dont have to worry about it. But
how long do I have to use adhesive for my dentures?

Laura:
hello!
its been awhile since i last posted here.yeah,i agree with jake
about the sweet mustiness.i also wanna ask if soaking it with tablet

using Dentu-gel from polident rigtht now.is that ok?

brush all around my mouth (not just my real bottom teeth) with
Colgate Total; that does a great job of controlling odor. If my top
plate is in (and from what I've heard, DO NOT brush your denture
with regular toothpaste) I'll use my tongue to swish some toothpaste
up around my top plate. Hope that helps.

There's nothing wrong with making money. If you want charity
work, go to someplace like Cuba. Where does *your* money come from?
But this is a small issue.
I think there's an issue here that needs to be explored:
should one have sound teeth pulled to save money?
I suspect that the answer is NO.
Perhaps those who have had both partials and later on, when the
remaining teeth failed, full prosthetics could comment. I have
*heard* that as little as one sound tooth in a jaw makes a difference.
Dave
I'd try one of the denture places that advertise for them cheap.
Instead of my getting partials I got dentures at a young age because
of income, I was a college student and so money was limited and the
teeth they had to pull were perfectly good but it's what I told them
to do. Sounds like that place was trying to make money off of you so
I'd not go back there.

Following a car wreck when I was 21 I had to have what was left of my
teeth pulled and they immediately put in my dentures but I never had
any pain at all. I left the dentist office and went and had a fried
burrito. There is some stuff I remember getting at Eckerds and it was
red and I rinsed my mouth with it and it numbed any pain I ever had.
I've not hand pain in 20 years. My biggest concern is of anyone
knowing I've got dentures. I guess since I was so young and am still
not old I'd hate for anyone to find out. Has anyone else had the
problem with their top lip going away more or less? I'm now having to
have injections in my lip just to have one and it's expensive. I'd also
like to find a dentist that would make me some larger teeth than what I
have ya know. Just so they'd show up when I smile.

Hi
What you are going through is absolut normal.
When i have got my uppers the first week was not so good. Eating was a
pretty hard job.
The second week was a little bit better. Here i could eat a little bit
harder food.
After about four weeks i was able to eat anything and normally.
In the first 4 weeks i have had 4 adjustments because of sore spots.
This is also absolut normal.
Don't worry. I about a month you have forgotten the hard times.
Good luck

LOL!!! I feel your pain brother... I had that sorrow on my first week
of having a denture. I chew on macaronies, pudding (yuck!!!) and mashed
potatoes. Plus I have to get used of this routine that After brushing
your dentures you have to rinse it overnight. At first I uses vinegar
(yuck!!!) but now I uses Efferdent and Polident products. Thats it for
me. Hey fivespeedfiend what denture cleaner do you use?

I went to Columbia Presbyterian dental school for an assessment of
work needed on my teeth. Basically there were two levels of work that
could be done. The more costly level invovled implants, the other was
for upper and lower partials.
I can not afford either. I have no health insureance and probably can
not afford more than $1,500-2,000.
I asked the dentist if I could have my teeth removed (I already have
seven teeth missing and I would have to have at least four more
removed for the partials) and get full dentures because that would be
more affordable. The dentist told me that it would be borderline
unethical for him to remove perfectly good teeth. I told him...isn't
it unethical for me to walk around with no teeth, not able to eat
properly and embarrased to go out, speak in public etc. He told be no
that this was a economic problem and I would have to save up the
$3,500 for the minimal proceedure for the partials. Saving $3,500
could take me a year or more. I also have poor credit so financing is
out of the question
I need help, advice, referral (new york city). I can not walk around
with this yuck mouth any longer.

Hello.. :) I have a new upper dentures. I didnt know that taking
care of them will not be as easy as just brushing it, you have to
rinse it and put on some stuffs just to maintain its whiteness. I
saw some cheap generic denture cleaners on Walmart and some branded
names like Polident and Efferdent. Just wanna know do they work the
same? my auntie told me to get Polident or Efferdent she has
dentures too she uses this products.

Welcome to the crowd! I didn't have nearly the problems some have had but

Finally contacted a dentist today...enough is enough ! Told them what
I had in mind...first appointment is next Wednesday. I've let my teeth
go for so long, it's even hard for me to believe !
When I look around at the people near me...see them smile
openly...while at the same time I find myself covering up...it seems
almost idiotic to not go for Dentures.
The dentist, although professional, will really get a laugh next week
when he sees a 50 year old male whine and cry (???) like a little
baby.
Any and all comments would be appreciated...Thanks for the ears !

Hello my name is Diana... I got a new upper dentures... it really feels
odd on the first day.. I read something about chewing small foods like
mashed potatoes and pudding... i've been there.. just for 2 days.. Im
also using the Efferdent and Polident tablets and toothbrush.. just
wanna know i saw some generic denture cleaners on wallmart.. are these
products safe? do they work as good as the branded denture cleaners?
He got an immediate denture, but he removed his remaining teeth slowly, so
there were only two left when he went to get his dentures. There were five
teeth left the week before. He went for 5 sessions of extractions.

Tell him to try real small bites of real soft foods. I lived on mashed potatoes
and pudding for the first few days. It is hard to imagine eating, as your mouth
feels kinda full with the plate in there, but that feeling DOES go away. I'm
just curious... did he get an immediate denture, or did he go for a period of
time with no top teeth?

Eating does take alot of practice. Is it a problem with gagging that keeps him
from eating with them in, or is it just the feeling of eating with them in?
