HI.
Mouth sores are very common with dentures. One reason is that there are
parts of the denture that make a larger pressure on parts of the gums
and then there will be a sore development and that can be painful. This
is very easy to deal with by the dentist. Some times we wait a bit
because we think it will go over with. That is not so. If the fit is
not good the denture may move a bit and sores can develop. Cancer is
very rare due to this but the pain is there indeed. I will call it
canker sores.
Every time you get a new denture the risk for sore spot is present. To
get a new denture is as getting a new shoe. If there is a sore that
does not heal one should go to the dentist to get it checked. If you
have a sore spot and do not fix it it can be there for quite a while so
the rule is to get the spot relieved for pressure by the dentist. It is
very fast and dentists more or less take drop ins for that.
I have had full dentures for over 30 years and have had sore spots. It
can also develop if you get seeds or food under the dentures that make
a sore on the gums. Then you will have a sore spot developing. This is
not necessary to get relieved by the dentist because it is a seed or
other food that causes it. There are some painreliever for sore spots
that I do not remember the name on.
Hope this helps you a little.
