Teresa,
All the teeth on both of my dentures are individuals. As Sally
described, the impressions are taken, positive is made from that and
then a wax bite try is formed to make the actual model of your mouth
and new teeth. The new teeth are set into the wax and you try them
on, they can be adjusted easily for appearance or bite at this
stage. When everyone is happy with them, they send the wax try ins
back to the lab and they use a process to elimate the wax and
substitute it with the plastic denture base, the teeth are embedded
into it during this process. Normally they don't fall out unless
something was amiss during the final processing.
This process of the wax try in is only for those who elect not to
get immediate dentures or for later on when a more permanent set of
dentures is made. They tend to fit better and can be made more
lifelike.
For immediate dentures, the process is not as refined.
I have never heard of a one piece denture like you describe.
