Teresa,
I had some of the same fears, I had 23 teeth extracted all at once in late
october of last year so I am just now 4 months out and it hasn't been bad. The
first two weeks are rough but with pain medication completely doable. There was
only blood the first day and it wasn't a lot. At first my gums were very lumpy
and sometimes the dentures hurt a bit but not horrible and not as bad as a
toothache feels. It was an adjustment but I am getting used to it. My husband
has not seen me without my teeth. I sleep in them. At times if I am home alone I
will take them out and let my gums rest but for the most part I always have them
in. I am 43 years old and it was a bit traumatic but I am very happy with my
new white perfect teeth. I am getting my Doctorate and didn't feel like I could
present a professional image with my teeth the way they were before and didn't
want to try to spend the thousand upon thousands trying to repair them. I am
very happy with my new teeth. I have learned to
eat almost everything I want.
I don't think people who meet me would even know that these are not my teeth.
That is an advantage of being younger.
I will have to tell you though that without my teeth I hate the way I look.
But hopefully no one will see me that way ever.
If you go through with it just plan a good three weeks to get over the surgery
after that you should be off and running and you'll wonder why you waited so
long.
Anyway if you have any other question feel free to ask. I go back in April
for my 6 month appt and to get the final dentures made.

Has anyone heard of Dr. Corona in Tijuana? I've already paid him, my
dentures have been made, upper and lower. But now the problem is my
fear. I wrote to this site before and may have gotten answers but I
didn't know how to find them. Now I know, so here goes again. I have
a strong fear of having all my teeth pulled. He has given me a valium
and a little white pill (subli something) to take just before I come
in. Will this be enough? I am so scared. I also am frightened of the
psychological trauma I may experience. I'm embarressed of the thought
of my husband seeing me with no teeth. Also, is there a blood clot
under each extraction and if so is it difficult to keep them intact?
Also are the gums painful and swollen and how does it feel to put
dentures on top of that? Does anyone out there sleep with their
dentures? is that possible. How do you look when you don't have your
dentures in? With the new teeth, whats it like to look in the
mirror? I'm an attractive female and my ego is bruising. Ladies, can
you relate? Men, how do you look upon your wife when she has her
dentures out? I hope I get alot of answers, I'm really struggling
with this and my dentist and family are getting impatient and don't
understand.
