Hello. I got an upper denture almost 7 months ago. Seems like after a little
over two weeks, I was again able to eat. Took time, though. I also had an
immediate denture. I believe I ate a hamburger just less than a month after I
got my teeth. I can't think of any real tricks I used, except to take small
bites. One of the hardest things for me (aside from the soreness) was not being
able to feel the roof of my mouth. I felt like I couldn't feel the food at all,
and was terrified I would choke. It does rather feel like eating with a shovel
in one's mouth. I guess I just took small, careful bites, and concentrated on
the chewing motion, and how it felt with the denture. I'm a 26 year old with an
upper denture. I'm married, so I'm not dating, but I don't think any decent man
is gonna care that you have a denture. Once your mouth heals, your confident
smile will be all they see. Take care!

Hi I got upper dentures (immediate) 2 weeks ago. Eating is a big
problem. Any tips on learning to eat and chew with dentures would be
a big help. I have been losing weight and feel I may never be able to
eat anything other than soft foods (pudding applesauce ect) again I am
divorced and dating and scared to death of what a man might think of a
49 year old with dentures. Any tips!!! Thanks
