Hi Everybody,
Just a little intro from a new member and some questions.
I am 51 and started to work on getting my dentures three months ago
which included having twelve teeth pulled leaving four in the bottom of
my mouth that my dentist has made a denture to fit onto the four teeth
and also made the bottom denture so if I loose those last four teeth she
can just add those four teeth to the bottom denture. My top denture is
a full denture (I have no teeth left on top of mouth). My dentist
wanted to save four of my bottom teeth because she thought they were
savable and also mentioned that she thought I was young (51?) for
dentures and that pulling all the teeth could affect bone loss in bottom
of my mouth.
I had my first try in for my dentures last week (full top and the bottom
that fits on the four teeth I have left). I thought they looked
wonderful and I was very pleased with them. I am sure some of you know
what is like to have no teeth or four left like me and trying to eat or
even enunciate talking so I am looking forward to having them completed.
My try in last week was the teeth and gum part that was in wax in case
adjustments had to be made which they do. When I smiled more teeth
showed on left side of my mouth then right so I go back this Thursday to
try in this adjustment then the wax version will be sent to have the
acrylic applied and then I will have my dentures which should hopefully
be in a week to two weeks the most from this Thursday.
I started losing teeth in my thirties till I reached the point I am now
at 51 with only 16 teeth left and of course this limited my ability to
chew and eat normally and not mention embarrassing to smile which was
something I avoided so I concluded it was time to do something about it
and thus started this process three months ago of getting my dentures.
I was so pleased when I tried in my new dentures last week and smiled
because they looked like me when I use to have a full set of teeth. I
thought they looked very natural and real.
My dentist had me bring in pictures of me smiling when I had a full set
of teeth to send to the denture makers to gauge what my natural teeth
looked liked and the dentures look just like my real teeth use to.
Has anyone here had their dentist use pictures of yourself showing teeth
when you had them to make your dentures?
My first question I have is personally I am kinda health food person to
even using natural toothpaste and mouthwash and the foods I eat so I
started thinking about denture glue and cleaners and could only find
these two products: Is anyone here familiar with these products and if
you are what do you think of them if you have used them? Secure Brand
Denture Bonding Cream and Secure Brand Denture Cleanser. Also you can
order this product at numerous places on line but I do not know if they
can be bought in stores where I live. This product claims to be the
first denture adhesive that is non-water soluble meaning it is not
dissolved by liquids or saliva. Non of it is swallowed, does not alter
taste and requires only one application a day.
Can anyone here comment on what this product claims. If I can get good
feedback on this product or find others familiar with it I am going to
go ahead and order it to have when I get my dentures.
And on this note can anyone provide feedback, personal stories of their
experience or preference in regard to the dental adhesives and cleansers
they use?
I would appreciate any advice in this regard given I will soon be
requiring these two products the denture adhesive and cleansers.
Anne
